  1. And added yours truly as a season ticket member, don’t forget that!!
  2. Happy August! A space for all your predictions - from the bold to the obvious - to sit for bragging rights and embarrassment upon reflection six months from now. From Lions 53-man, to record, to schedule, to Super Bowl predictions. Come one, come all (except Brad Allen).
  3. I think I would put Alim into the Pro Bowl caliber starter category. He's generally underrated by the lay media and public because he doesn't generate as much pass rush as a Chris Jones or Quinnen Williams, but the Lions' dominance against the run is in no small part due to him being an absolute plug in the middle of the line. And he's done it by himself too! I'm excited to see what he can do next to DJ Reader this year. He's a notch below Penei and ASB, who are both on the early road toward being inducted in the Pride of the Lions (and maybe more), but he's a borderline top ten player at his position. RE Iffy, I think he starts on almost any team. PFF (for whatever their rankings are worth) rated him as the 8th best safety in the NFL last year and the very best safety (1/103) in zone coverage. There is a little bit of a "how do we fit him in", but remember CJ Gardner-Johnson throwing a hissy fit because the team wouldn't just pull Iffy off the field once CJGJ was healthy. He'll be on the field plenty this year - particularly in zone coverage - as long as he stays at the same level of play. Barnes and Jefferson I agree. Don't forget we also picked up Jerry Jacobs and Brock Wright as UDFAs in 2021. It was just an insanely good draft top to bottom.
  4. If this training camp smoke becomes fire and Levi becomes a starter or reliable rotational player alongside Reader and McNeill, the 2021 draft class has to go from not just being the best in Lions history (which it probably already is) to being discussed as among the best in NFL history.
  5. Looked it up. 1965: 20-3 L v. Washington 1976: 10-7 L v. Denver 1991: 14-3 W v. Denver
  6. Have the Lions ever played in the HOF game? Not that it seems like they'd want to. The Bears playing their backup punter instead of their rookie starter says everything you need to know about their thoughts about playing this game.
  7. She’s too seasoned a prosecutor to sling mud with a defendant.
  8. I did get a chuckle the other day out of a house with a Trump/Pence sign in their front yard, but with red tape crudely placed over the P and E in Pence’s name to make it Trump/VAnce. The boss wouldn’t appreciate that. He wants your MONEY, not your support.
  9. Football tonight! Tyson Bagent v. Davis Mills, just as God intended a Bears v. Texans game to be.
  10. There are downsides to how hard they go in camp and practices. Cominsky was a rotational guy at a position where we don’t have the kind of depth I would like. Particularly with an injury prone guy like Davenport ahead of Cominsky. Sucks.
  11. I think your second point is exactly right. Every new contract resets the market to some extent. Goff was what the third highest paid QB just last month? Now he’s down to the 5th, just by Tua and Love getting their deals done. He’s the 7th most now, and sure he’s not the 7th best OT in the league. But by this time next year I expect he’ll be in the teens as far as APY goes.
  12. I don’t think it’s an overpay for the player he is. He’’s the OT2 here which creates a weird dynamic, but he probably could have gotten more money for longer on the open market as a team’s OT1.
  13. No surprise that Schefter shafted Jansen and Costa. They broke this, and it sounded like Holmes/Deck intentionally held onto this to share with the local crew. It was pretty funny to hear live. You could practically hear the moment of panic between them as they were silently like “did this break yesterday and we didn’t even see it?!”
  14. Holmes just casually announced on 97.1 that they inked Decker to a three-year extension.
  15. It was very, very good.
  16. The theater is as packed as I’ve seen it since before COVID for Deadpool and Wolverine. Will report back on how it is but I expect it to be great.

  19. Yeah but the children in my story juked the ever loving **** out of a security guard. Their parents may have to pay a fine, and they’re probably grounded for a month, but that’s a story for life. But responsibly involving children is cool too.
  20. The children running across the field at Comerica yesterday has generated more news in my timeline than any Tigers story in maybe the last three years. Ilitch is going to be paying kids to run across the field at this rate.
  21. Andre Szmyt is still available too if they want to go back to the UFL well. He was overshadowed by Bates, but he went 19/21 with a long of 61 on the Battlehawks, which is actually better than Bates' 17/22... Sdmyt's misses were from 53 and 45. He's also 6'1" / 200, so at least on paper he should be able to be productive in the kickoff game. I have no idea how to even attempt pronouncing his name though, so that's a point deduction.
  22. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Lions bring in Randy Bullock for some veteran camp competition. I'm pretty sure he knows Dan Campbell from Texas A&M connections and he was here for a training camp stint in 2021. He went 5/6 with a long of 56 last year on the Giants and 10/10 on extra points before he got hurt. Brandon McManus is available too, but the Lions probably don't want to deal with the baggage that comes with that signing.
  23. That’s too bad for Badgley. I’ll never forget exclaiming “I didn’t know he could do that!” When he kicked a 54-yard field goal against the Rams.
  24. The more I think on the Hillary vs. Clinton issue, I agree. Someone who wanted to distinguish and be respectful would say "Secretary Clinton". No one was getting confused in October 2016 who you were talking about when you said "Clinton". And Hillary is not an indistinguishable name like Kamala that I think is akin to Prince, Cher, or Bono... There was also the whole social media movement calling her "Killary".
