  1. In Michigan at least, a voter can spoil an unreceived absentee ballot (but not an Early Vote) up until 4pm the Monday before Election Day. So if there are num nuts like this in Michigan who have already mailed it their ballot, but it has not been received, it's not too late to call their clerk, sign a paper, spoil it, and get a new ballot (or vote in person). Of course, if they early voted, or if their vote has been received and counted, it's locked in stone.
  2. Hearing from Justin Rogers that the team knew about this event weeks ago is a relief. Breaching the teams’ trust may have been a fatal sin. Campbell‘s comments that he trusted Jamo but that he had lost grip on the rope were made knowing this was likely coming down the line.
  3. Update: I got seven different reactions to the Goff jersey, all positive. One guy started a Jared Goff chant with me. One commiserated over the Bears misery with me (Commies fan). Several just said “Go Lions!” It’s nice to be proud to wear this jersey rather than just getting others’ sympathy.
  4. Agreed. Quite possible Jamo costs someone who doesn’t make millions a job though. (Their actions will have cost them their job, but the point remains that it wouldn’t have happened if not for Jamo).
  5. Richardson was the youngest starting QB in the NFL last year. After getting hurt last year, he came into this year….. as the youngest starting QB in the NFL. If the Colts didn’t think the kid needed coaching they were fooling themselves. He probably shouldn’t have started this season, and definitely shouldn’t have started last season. If anything the lesson to be learned is to not tap yourself out, but just go down. Then you have to go out one play.
  6. I don’t think the Chief would have been quoted through a Department source as being “pissed off” if everything was done by the book.
  7. My boss gave me his season tickets for the night. I am wearing my Jared Goff jersey.
  8. Right. I think it’s up in the air whether the celebrity actually gets charged, let alone convicted. The real news story is a police supervisor showing up to a scene where the officer was doing everything right, having a Lions phone background, immediately recognizing the Lions player, making some calls, and presto he’s released. That’s not okay.
  9. I think he should move in with Grandma Hamp instead
  10. Sure if he kept his big mouth shut. But the story says he admitted to police it was his gun. If an average Joe would get charged and booked for it, therein lies the problem.
  11. I’m not going to blame the news for reporting when an immature player makes a boneheaded decision, admits it to the police, and then the police try to cover it up for him. Looking at the totality of the circumstances, he’s probably not going to get punished that severely, by either the law (if he can be charged at all at this point, I’m not a lawyer but their only evidence was handed right back to him) or the league (for all his troubles this is his first violation of the personal conduct policy). The Cowboys’ Sam Williams was recently suspended three games for two arrests, one which resulted in a charge of unlawfully carrying a weapon during a traffic stop. I would guess he’s eventually looking at something similar, though he might be able to delay it to next season. Him name dropping the Lions like that isn’t going to do him any favors with the league.
  12. All I needed to see: “I play for the Lions, bro. I’m Jameson Williams,” he said at one point. Minutes later, he said: “Bro, I play for the Detroit Lions.” Minutes after that, he said once more: “Bro, I play for the Lions!”
  13. The maturity just ain’t where it needs to be on this team.
  14. I’m not as worried about the pass rush as I am about setting the edge. We’ve been getting a decent pass rush from the interior between McNeill, Levi, and Reader. I don’t think Love will be comfortable back there. I am more concerned about whoever we put at edge being able to prevent Josh Jacobs from running right by them into the secondary. Or, alternatively, Love getting pressure in his face by that interior and then running right by the edge into the secondary. If he’s hobbled that will help the latter.
  15. If it happens again I won’t blame you….. everybody else might, but not me. 😉 The Packers are going to be a desperate team. It’s only week nine, so lots of ball to play, but in the early going it looks like they’ll really need this win to stay in contention for the North. The Lions can afford a loss more.
  16. I think they win one of the next two close and get blown out in the other. And if that happens it will not be cause for panic. I lean towards Packers being the win and Texans being the blowout loss, but I could be wrong. I just think they’ll be 7-2 with a smaller differential in two weeks.
  17. More of a DT. We have plenty of those. Theoretically possible but I’d be very surprised. He’s also overpaid for the level of play he’s brought since signing his massive extension.
  18. I think this is right. The game was such an anomaly when you look at the season to this point. How does this offense go 1/7 in the red zone? That said, I’ll take a slow start over losing a big contributor in a meaningless preseason game.
  19. My preferences for QB we face: 1. Hobbled Love 2. Healthy Willis 3. Healthy Love
  20. No. Two games isn’t enough for me to abandon him. Realistically, I think the most that might be done is switching him and Sewell this offseason.
  21. Decker is starting to be a concern of mine. He’s not on the injury report, but has put together probably the worst two game performance in his time with the Lions. I really don’t need Goff taking shots like he did the first snap. I’m hoping it’s not his age catching up to him.
