Well, up until last Sunday Lamar was the front runner. And he deserved to be. I don’t think he is anymore. Too many downs where he looked like he didn’t know whether he should stay a passer or become a runner. Then Josh Allen had the dramatic prime time game in the snow. Goff’s Thanksgiving game was fine but the story was the failed comeback rather than any heroics by Goff.
It is true that the media has given Allen more hype than he has been to in his career and has not given golf as much credit as he has been to. But there is still a lot of football left to be played.
also, this is a big if, but if Goff averages 21 for 25 in each of his last five games, that would put him past Drew Brees for the highest completion percentage in a season in NFL history at just over 75%. It would be hard to deny him the MVP if he set that record, but with the tough slate of games coming up, that seems a lot less likely than it did a few weeks ago.
