  1. Arizona never put up 70 points.
  2. The fact that McDaniel went to an OC position raises the stakes on Detroit’s decision not to pursue him. I feel cautiously optimistic about Petzing but I find it hard to believe that McDaniel would have been anything less than a home run, even if he was packing his bags for a HC role in 2027.
  3. Agree. If I’m Dan, I tell Petzing that the first call he needs to make is to David Montgomery. FYI, in 2025 Detroit had 442 rushing attempts for 2,041 yards. In 2024 they had 535 attempts for 2,488 yards. In 2023, they had 500 attempts for 2,311 yards. If they really want to get back to the running game, they need him.
  4. I look forward to seeing Baker put up 80 on the Falcons next season.
  5. Wait… is that you, Coach Lalonde?
  6. I thought McDaniel was too weird to get another HC gig right away. But he is getting the interviews. I assume he will get hired as HC this cycle. And I assume the Lions assumed as much. But if he ends up as OC with Tampa, this will be a bad look for Detroit.
  7. Courtesy Justin Rogers: With Murray healthy all 17 games in 2024, the Cardinals’ offense jumped to 12th in scoring, fueled by a rushing attack led by back James Conner that averaged 5.3 yards per carry. That ranked second in the NFL, behind only the Baltimore Ravens.
  8. I’m all aboard the Stat Padford bandwagon. Let him pad his playoff stats late in his career.
  9. I don’t hate Ben. I’m indifferent to him now. But I agree that with his villain schtick he is going to fall hard. His departure turns out to have been a devastating loss. It didn’t necessarily have to be but Dan/Brad did not take his departure seriously enough. With a competent OC, I have no doubt Detroit would have won one or two more games and squeaked into the playoffs where they would have had a chance against a weak field.
  10. Yes. Also, defensive players should not be punished for tight defense. If you as a DB have stayed stride for stride with a receiver without holding or impeding his route, you as a DB should be able to make a play on the ball without worrying the refs are going to pull the flag.
  11. Yes, the Bills cannot expect to win a game with five turnovers. Yes, the OT interception was an interception. Yes, the Bills got jobbed on a DPI called against them at the end when a very similar DPI was not called against Denver with a Bills player in the end zone. I understand the sentiment for a 15-yard DPI, but this would just lead to DBs mauling WRs downfield. I think the only solution is to tell WRs that if a DB has played you well enough that he is in your hip pocket, he can hand fight you all he wants short of wrapping you up. No flags for hand fighting. No flags for face guarding. Only flags if the DB has his arms wrapped around the WR’s arms before the ball arrives.
  12. I think the NFL needs to change the officiating paradigm for DPI. If you, as the WR, have not gotten separation from the DB, you are not getting a DPI short of being tackled without the football.
  13. A disaster of a game for everybody. Especially the NFL.
  14. Amazing that Buffalo is ahead after three turnovers. Edit: Whoops, four.
  15. Everyone is talking about it but let’s just tip our cap to Marco one more time. Incredible play.
  16. Yeah, Goff was not the problem. It is hard to believe that as inept as the OL looked for most of the season, the Lions still finished #5 in points scored, #5 in yards gained, and tied for #4 with fewest INTs thrown at 8. (Packers and Bears tied with the Iggles for first with just 7 INTs.) Goff took a step forward this year, even as the OL took a step back.
  17. Interesting article on Tomlin’s exit https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6973084/2026/01/15/mike-tomlin-inside-story-steelers-resignation/?source=emp_shared_article
