  1. 1. The tweet you posted is apparently not accurate. 2. it is literally unbelievable that Rod Wood made any decision about scheduling an international game unilaterally. 3. Rod Wood was involved in hiring Spielman, Holmes, and Campbell and in wholly changing the culture of a previously pathetic franchise.
  2. If you go back and read scouting reports on him you will see there is a lot that scouts love about him. He has a lot of traits the Wings lack. He is gritty. He is abrasive. He goes to the net. And it seems like all of those traits have continued to be on display this season and post-season. I don’t know how to handicap him making the NHL roster next season, but he seems to be a more plausible fit to complete the Larkin/Raymond line than Finnie was going into camp last season. He is fast enough to play with them and has skill to finish the play. He will go to the places on the ice they may not. And it seems like he is responsible enough defensively that he could match up against the top lines that Larkin usually draws.
  3. Detroit is coming into next season looking to prove something too. they came into last season with an entitlement mentality. They were coasting on their reputation and came into week one and got embarrassed. Dan Campbell remembers that. Penei Sewell remembers that. Gibbs and Goff and ASB remember that. They are going to come out in week one this year and try to establish their identity as bullies in the run game and precise in the passing game. They want to announce to the league that they are back.
  4. But this one is new. Look at the kids playing some ******* hockey!
  5. I posted that and the page refreshed and there were five new clips from the game!
  6. This made me happy to see.
  7. Don’t like at Chicago and at GB weeks 17 and 18. Let’s clinch before then.
  8. Yes I get it and agree that there are very few straight up trades in the NHL and I would not expect one to occur in this case. But I don’t think his trade value has collapsed. And I don’t think anyone wants to trade him for anything other than player(s) that make the team better immediately.
  9. A Cossa-Nurse deal would make Edmonton twitter happy. But I don’t get the sense he wants to waive his NTC. And I don’t see Stevie wanting to bring on another big contract just as CCR are expiring. There is nothing wrong with keeping Cossa.
  10. The Bultman article has some comps, including the one I posted earlier. I still think the floor is Cossa’s own draft position, #15 overall. But he could easily be part of a trade for a top-tier player. there is some recent precedent for highly drafted goalies getting traded — although none of their situations was exactly analogous to Cossa’s. Two years ago, the Nashville Predators traded 2020 first-round pick Yaroslav Askarov to the San Jose Sharks after two AHL seasons with very comparable numbers to Cossa’s. In return, they got prospect David Edstrom (who had been a 2023 first-round pick) and a 2025 first-round pick. Last season, the Florida Panthers traded 2019 first-rounder Spencer Knight and a first-round pick to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Seth Jones and a 2026 fourth. And in 2021, the Florida Panthers traded goalie prospect Devon Levi (a seventh-round pick but who had starred at the World Juniors) and a first-round pick to the Buffalo Sabres for Sam Reinhart.
  11. Yes, it seems clear they were using each other to support the Patriots. It is one thing to deflate footballs or to spy on a practice, it is totally different to have an “NFL Insider”™️ put out stories that advance your team’s interests. Kraft may have to sacrifice Vrabel to avoid a major problem with the other owners.
  12. The possibility of trading Gibson crossed my mind. But on second thought, the trade value for Cossa is almost certainly going to be higher than the price we paid for Gibson and that we could get for him. Also, I think it would be a bad signal to the team to trade away Gibson, who was such a security blanket for the team. If the front office wants to demonstrate that it is aiming for the playoffs, I don’t think you can trade away the reliable veteran who nearly dragged the team there last season.
  13. I am still not sure it is true, but it does raise the same question about Postava. One of them will be the full-time backup in Detroit next year. If Stevie can’t send the other one down and this ends up forcing his hand on a trade, so be it. They will get good value and will still have a strong pipeline in net.
  14. Bultman says Cossa will no longer be waiver exempt next season.
  15. https://www.mckeenshockey.com/nhl-blog/mckeens-2026-nhl-prospect-report-4-detroit-red-wings-organization-overview-top-15-prospects/ New prospect report. Has Detroit ranked #4. Not a surprise that it emphasizes the strength of the goaltending pipeline. Maybe a bit surprising at this point that Cossa is ranked as Detroit’s top prospect with Postava coming in at 9 (and Augustine at 4). Also not a surprise to see Danielson and MBN at 2 and 3 but the write ups do not indicate a lot of upside.
  16. I would like to think that Wallinder and Buium are set to make the jump but I haven’t heard anything that makes me think that is the case. ASP had his moments this year. He was not big enough or responsible enough in his own end but he will put on a bit more muscle and he will get smarter in his own end. But he has offensive skills that the team needs. I think he should be in the NHL next year. Faulk will eat up some of his minutes and allow the team to shelter him a bit.
  17. It was a nasty and dirty hit. I worried at the time that it might be worse than it looked. I think I read that his mid-season injury was a hip but I hope he doesn’t have disc damage.
  18. I assume Kane will be back. I also assume that between a trade or FA signing, Stevie will either bring in a winger to play with Larkin and Raymond, or a center to play between Kane and ADB. (I prefer the latter because I hope MBN can become the former.) It would be fantastic if Chiarot can finally get bumped to the third pairing. But ASP needs a place to play in the NHL and he needs a reliable defenseman to be paired with and that is not Chiarot.
  19. Yes. A lot of people use the term Yzerplan which I don’t think is fair because Yzerman didn’t come in trying to sell people on a plan other than to draft and develop. But part of that development was for some of these kids to play meaningful hockey together in GR, and they are doing it. It seems pretty clear by now that next season in the NHL we will see MBN and Mazur again. Probably ASP again. Probably Anton. Maybe a little bit of Amadeus. Almost certainly one or both of Postava and Cossa. Presumably Danielson will be back in the mix too. That’s a lot of guys who are showing right now that they play with a level of energy and camaraderie that doesn’t always seem evident in the big league club.
  20. I don’t know what the numbers and colors mean but the words are really something.
