I think Ratledge is exactly the kind of dirtbag you want on your OL. I'm not worried about him. I think the same about Mahogany, and he already demonstrated this last season. I agree Glasgow is going to be a significant downgrade from Ragnow but I expect him to be an adequate replacement this year. We saw last week, Decker said that in one instance he and another OL were running one play, the other three OL were running a different one. I suspect there were other occasions where this occurred. I don't know how that happened but I don't expect it to happen again.

I don't believe the OL is permanently broken. I believe Morton made too many changes from last year. I believe this led to communication problems and missed assignments. I believe Ratledge had some bad plays as a rookie in his first game. I believe Glasgow had some bad plays taking over at center. I believe Green Bay has a better defense this year than they did last year when they were in the top 5-7. I believe all that came together in an offensive performance where they did not play with anywhere near the confidence, swagger, or championship attitude they did last year. They were timid, tentative, and reactive. At no point did they demonstrate anything like the killer instinct that they did last season. I suspect they will come out tomorrow like wild animals. They will still make some mistakes, but I do not see them being meek and passive like they were last week.

They did not play like champions last Sunday. They deserved to lose. I expect they will play like champions this Sunday.

I wonder if Washington knows they are allowed to cover Tucker Kraft.

Are they going to give him some reps at center?

They cannot roll into Ford Field on Sunday acting like they are too good to game plan against an opponent or failing to execute on whatever plan they do have. Last Sunday’s performance was unprofessional and unacceptable from the top down.

Also what will get you crushed in the NFL is what they did yesterday. They have started slow in the past and demonstrated their ability to adapt over the season, and I assume they will do the same, but the way Dan was talking sounded like they were starting from ground zero. It doesn’t make sense.

From J-Rog. I guess I don’t understand how much more needed to be put on the plates of the NFL’s best offense. Yes, you have a new IOL, but two of the three of them have been taking backup reps in practice for a full season. Give them the old offense and let them execute it

Three targets and three defenders clustered in a 5 yard by 5 yard box. They have a new offensive coordinator. Does this mean they have to throw out the playbook and start from scratch? I can’t tell from the outside, but this seems like what they did. They had the best offense in the league last year. Keep at least 80% of what you did and tweak the other 20%.

3/5 of OL on the bottom six list. Also two DL, with Hutch not far behind, posting the worst PFF score of his career. The staff did not have this team ready to play. This was the case early last season also, but they hadn’t come out and laid an egg like this since Baltimore the year before. I think it is going to be up to Goff, Decker, and Sewell to fix the offense. Morton is going to have to be reminded of what this team does well on offense. I am less concerned about the defense. They did not look great, and there was some nonsense about dropping the ends into coverage that should get fixed, but they started to tighten up over the course of the game.

PFF numbers: Hutch 56.8 (worst of career) Sewell 54.5 (worst of career) These are the team’s two best players. Both on HOF trajectory. These guys did not forget how to play football. This coaching staff just did not have them ready to play.

OL got its collective head handed to it today. We thought it might happen and it did. But the offense started slow last season too. Anyway, they better get right next week against Chicago.

GB got the ball on the first drive at the 43. Second drive on the 48 (after the phantom false start/re-punt). Third drive, touchback, 35 yard line. Last year, Detroit had just about the best special teams in the league. Did Detroit forget you can take a touchback? Did they forget how to pin a team deep in their zone? Hopefully they will not give up so much field position this half. And hopefully they will stop playing on their heels.
