We need a Stafford/Golladay reunion.
-
I’m sure they want to and will probably be able to. But if they don’t want to trade themselves out of one of the two blue-chip defensive prospects, that limits their trade pool.
-
Of course this whole conversation assumes four QBs will be taken ahead of the Lions’ pick at six. I suppose it’s not out of the question, but I doubt any team desperate for a QB thinks Seattle or Detroit is competing with them for the chance to roll the dice on Richardson. I think the real question is whether Chicago will take Anderson/Carter at 1 or will they trade back with Indy to 4 and take whichever of the two that Arizona doesn’t pick.
-
Yes, that’s the only thing I’ve seen about Carter. Maybe he doesn’t love practice or the weight room. That’s an important thing to consider, but it is unfair for McShay to throw out the phrase “character concerns” against a 20-year old if their worst trait is not grinding out another rep at the squat rack.
-
Yeah, it only takes one team to make him a massive offer. Will someone do it on the basis of three ~100 yard games in the last third of the season? Maybe. If not his best option might be to come back to Detroit where he was getting his timing down with Goff and where the offense is putting up a lot of yards. He could put up the numbers to justify a big deal with another team after Detroit spends its WR money on ASB.
-
Nobody really says a bad word about Goff, other than that he missed a few deep throws and he gets flustered under pressure. McVay is another story. Lets the Rams sign Goff to a massive contract, runs him out of town at great cost to save his own reputation, rides the coattails of high price acquisitions Stafford and Von Miller to the Super Bowl win, then when it all falls apart he considered running away from it all. That trade really exposed everyone’s character — Stafford, Goff, and McVay.

Chark was on a prove it deal. He didn’t prove it. He didn’t disprove it, but he didn’t prove it. As a result he’s not likely to get a mega deal. If Holmes could get him for two years, just one guaranteed, at or slightly above his $10 million salary for last year, it would be nice to see him pick up where he left off.
-
Goff is 28. Was a top 5 QB last year. He could be the team’s starter for the next ten years. The Richardson talk is insane. They might as well light the draft pick on fire.
-
Yes but we only have two drafts of history to go on. I like that he is aggressive to get players that he believes are difference makers. But something tells me if he doesn't see a guy he is in love with at 6 and he has a chance to move back to 9 he will take it.

This guy has Skoronski as the #4 talent in the draft and Bijan at #5. https://www.si.com/nfl/2023/02/23/2023-nfl-draft-top-100-big-board-prospects-rankings

This is true. Second leading receiver on the team and second leading TE in NFL in receptions/game, YPG, and targets per game. Still, they won without him. Yes, in a vacuum a team will improve if you upgrade a position. But you don’t build a team in a vacuum. Hock deserves a big contract. I’m glad Detroit won’t give it to him and I don’t want to see them draft another TE before the fourth round.
-
It never felt like Quinn had much of a drafting strategy. He stayed out and picked who the mock drafts said to pick. Holmes seems not to value LBs and TEs. They are not on the field all the time, and their body types are not particularly rare. Sewell is a physical freak and they were thrilled he fell to them. Same with Hockenson. Jaymo is a physical freak and he went up to get him. It is interesting to think about what Holmes would have done had he been GM when Hock was drafted. Probably Ed Oliver or trade down.
-
If Holmes ever picks a TE before pick 100 I’ll eat my hat.
-
They're not picking a TE in the first round or the second round or the third round. Any analyst who says they are is throwing darts.
-
Oh you're right. And he didn't make a lot of money this season either. In any event, I can't see Howie "build through the trenches" Roseman picking a RB with all those holes to fill on DL, not to mention secondary. For that matter, I can't see Holmes picking an RB at 6, or 9. Maybe 18 but probably not. If Robinson slides on down into the late 1st I could see him trading back up.
-
Eagles have a lot of UFAs to sign. 30 sacks worth. And nine INTs and a starting center. I don't think they'll have the luxury of taking a RB when they already have 2k yards between Sanders and Hurts.
-
Hope so. A guy could get hurt getting pushed from both ends.

Quoting Michael Irvin (pounding the desk): “Who gon’ block them? Who gon’ block them?”
-
Yes Campbell loves Bijan, says his sources have him as one of the few blue chip players in the draft and as one of the best RB prospects in a decade. Also, yes, the defense was terrible last season and needs improvement. They improved to average after AP left but still need top end talent at CB (which I think they can get at 18) and depth in the secondary (which they can get later in the draft). They also need more talent on the interior defensive line but I don’t see Carter falling to them or a trade up at 6. This is why I wouldn’t be surprised if they went for Skoronski who could play at guard now and tackle later. I doubt they will pick Bijan but if he’s there at 18 and they did it I wouldn’t be upset Could they move back to 9, pick up another second, then package it to move up late into the first to get Bijan? A guy can dream

We know Walter Football is your guilty pleasure. 😂 He was high on Detroit at the start of last season as well. He would have been seen as prophetic if not for a few injuries or last second FGs that prevented what would have been one of the NFL’s best Cinderella stories in years.
-
They might have just won the Super Bowl if they hadn’t traded for Lance. Maybe the year before too. That trade is already a disaster and is getting worse.
-
I said I could see them picking Skoronski at 6 if the two blue chip DL prospects are gone. There could be a run on QBs which pushes Jalen Carter to six. Which would be great. They should be able to get a starting CB at 18. They will probably get help there in FA too. Eagles had four DL with 10+ sacks this season. Barely got a hand on Mahomes in the SB, and he was on one leg. I would still have a pocket crushing DL but if he’s not available I could see shoring up RG.
-
It is the only sane thing to do. Doesn’t mean they will do it. Wonder if the Ravens could arbitrage Lamar Jackson. Trade him for two firsts and some change, then acquire Fields for one first and a few lower picks. Get their cheaper and healthier replacement for Lamar, replenish their draft assets, and maintain their distinct offensive style.
-
Four star recruit between Pro Bowl caliber center and RT, with Hank Fraley as his position coach. Something tells me he would figure it out and they would maul together. TIL Skoronski’s grandfather was LT and captain of Vince Lombardi’s Packers dynasty.
-
If the blue chip DL prospects are gone and they can’t trade back from 6, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them pick Skoronski. Every down player, slides to RT when his rookie contract is up and Sewell slides to LT. I would hate to see them trade up from 18 in this draft. Between Witherspoon, Gonzalez, Porter, Branch, and Bijan, there are plenty of players who would start week one and provide a massive upgrade.
