  1. I don't think he said they won't sign a high level starter. I heard him saying they won't do it just to do it. Also, remember that Holmes got three compensatory picks in 2022 which turned into Kirby Joseph, James Mitchell, and James Houston. Comp picks are another benefit to avoiding high priced free agents.
  2. Crazy town! What are the odds now they end up picking the #3 QB on Reich's board and ending up with fewer draft assets than they gave away?
  3. It is prudent management to have descriptions and expectations for every role you need to fill, and to find someone with the skills to fill those roles. I don't want them signing the top FA at a position because they need someone at that position. On Ramsey, Holmes knows him as well as anyone. I presume that if Holmes thought Ramsey was the right guy for the Lions we would have heard more about the Lions' involvement in trade talks. Tweet above says Lions showed interest, but I doubt it was anything more than basic due diligence.
  4. They are clearly rebuilding their defense. Rumors are swirling that they want to trade Dalvin Cook, after cutting Thielen. They won't luck into five wins like they did last year.
  5. I'm on the fence. He wasn't driving the car that crashed. He didn't force anyone to race him. As I understand it the officer who spoke to him the night of the crash did not report any evidence of alcohol impairment. (Doesn't mean he wasn't impaired, of course.) And I've only heard of one other prior citation for reckless driving. At that time apparently the officer told Carter to tell his teammates to slow down, as if this was a problem the cops thought was widespread amongst the Bulldogs. This indicates it is as much a Kirby Smart issue as a Jalen Carter one. But usually when you turn over the stones you start to see a lot more that wasn't evident before. I won't be surprised if more "character issues" appear, and if they do I wouldn't want to draft him.
  6. Hilarious if true!
  7. Unrelated, but Tua with the fewest sacks on that list. Even so, he was so small they ruined his season. We'll see about his career.
  8. Yes, now Chicago is out of the running for a blue chip defender. We’ll see what Arizona does.
  9. Yes Carolina may have just traded its next two drafts for the QB in a box. It seems strange that they would make this trade not knowing who they want but you might be right that they don’t know who they want. Maybe Chicago wanted the certainty of DJ Moore, whom both Chicago and Carolina can check off from their free agency to do lists.
  10. I don’t know why Chicago needed to do this now. Seems like a mistake not to wait until draft day. But I’m happy for Chicago to make mistakes.
  11. An X receiver is not a luxury. Team was 7-4 when he played, 2-4 with him out.
  12. Increased supply may help cool the market on Chark. I’d like him back if it’s not something massive like 4/$60 million.
  13. Yes, Houston’s win could haunt the Lions for years. Chicago may parlay that #1 pick into three top tier starters. I’m not sold that Fields will ever develop into an average passer, but he may have a few more 1000 yard rushing seasons in him before his body gets beat up.
  14. Goff does have a Jekyll and Hyde quality to his game. When he is rattled, he is really rattled. But it is very rare to find a QB like Joe Burrow who seems totally unfazed by the pressure.
  15. McVay is the coaching equivalent of a system QB. Rode the coattails of a gunslinger and a mercenary QB hunter to a Super Bowl, then flamed out.
  16. His career peak was higher than Goff’s (to date) but I don’t think Lamar has any more upside. He is not getting faster, he is not getting more elusive, and he is not getting more durable. I was at the game where RGIII broke off this 76-yard TD run. He was electric. I get why people get excited about dual threat QBs. Within a few seasons he was on the scrap heap.
  17. Yes he had a transcendent season. Couldn’t replicate it. NFL defenses catch up. NFL defenders punish QBs who escape the pocket. Now he can’t finish a season and the team who built their offense around him doesn’t want to commit to him. Cam Newton has been the most successful hybrid, because he was big enough to withstand punishment.
  18. Yes, the dimension it adds is a few extra first downs in fall, a few missed games in winter, and physical breakdown after a few seasons of accumulated hits.
  19. Thank you! They have tailor made their offense for him and he can’t win them playoff games. He was also unable (or unwilling) to suit up for them when their season depended on it. What is the attraction to him again, other than this foolish notion that a QB who can pick up a first down by risking his body is somehow better than a QB who can pick up a first down by making the right check, the right read, and the right throw?
  20. Who wants to live in real life when you can imagine what might happen if you open the mystery box!
  21. Like designed QB runs in September and October that lead to trips to the injured list in November and December.
  22. I'd rather they take Richardson than trade for Lamar. And I'd be distraught if they took Richardson.
  23. Yes, if the Jets get Rodgers they will be legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
  24. I hope this turns into a quarter century of Green Bay in QB purgatory. These idiots have botched this situation and deserve to be remembered for it.
  25. He’s the only one. He had three good seasons out of nine, with two dismal seasons trying to hang on in Carolina. Other than the three good seasons he went 37-58-1. But hey, he was a QB, and he was in a box. 🤷🏻‍♂️
