  1. I believe that was Jarrad Davis getting turned around in coverage on the big gain before the TD.
  2. At this point, the worst that could happen is that they end up exceeding my preseason expectation (six wins) by one. But they very easily could win out and sneak into the playoffs one year early. Now if Minnesota loses out and we win out, and we win the division, that will be both awesome and hilarious. It’s all gravy from here.
  3. But if you watch it on a 3” screen it’s 👌🏻
  4. This is a good point. More broadly, who knows what the Texans will do. Is there a more unpredictable franchise in the NFL?
  5. Yeah, his numbers deteriorated… along with Gurley’s knee and Cooks’s concussions. We all saw him play his way out of LA. It wasn’t all his fault but clearly he was a reclamation project when he got here. He will never have the arm talent of Stafford or the physicality of Allen or the speed of Jackson or the creativity of Mahomes. Yes Goff has proven he can look lost behind a porous line with no weapons (like Brady and Rodgers), but he’s also proven he is good enough with the right pieces around him to put up top ten QB numbers. There aren’t a lot of guys you can say that about. If I thought there was a can’t miss, generational talent this draft like Trevor Lawrence was said to be, I’d want the Lions to take him. I prefer to go into next year with Goff and a top five DL pick as opposed to the same mediocre defense and a lottery ticket under center.
  6. Why would they release him when White is one hit away from a collapsed lung and Wilson is nearing bust status? They may set him loose in the off-season, but not now.
  7. No “steady decline.” Instead, this season, with a solid OL and full complement of weapons he is performing very near the level of his two great years with the Rams incidentally, those years Gurley had nearly 2,100 and over 1,800 yards from scrimmage, respectively. It’s almost like there are more variables than just the QB.
  8. Imagine being AP in an interview. “So Detroit had the worst pass defense in the league when you were DB coach, then became one of the best pass defenses after you got fired. Why do you think that was?”
  9. One does not simply sleep over at the hospital for kicks and giggles.
  10. Nobody is automatically assuming anything, but Holmes knows as well as anyone that sometimes the value of the players available is less than the value of the pick. Anyway, he has done a great job of giving himself roster flexibility for next season.
  11. Holmes was also on a staff known for trading away draft assets for the right player. So if he doesn’t think the right player is in this draft, it wouldn’t surprise me to see him trade away assets in 2024/25/26 drafts to get a QB.
  12. Holmes was on the staff that traded up for Goff in the draft, and he traded for him again with the Lions. He believes in Goff. With Goff’s performance this season there is no reason for Holmes to reach for a QB. Also with the team’s overall play Holmes has the luxury of talking the best player available in each of the five picks he has in the first three rounds. They will seriously upgrade the defense and get depth at guard and RB. At this point the key question for next season is not about the QB. it is about the OC. Will he stay or will he go?
  13. Lions have 45% chance to win against the Jets according to his board. These kinds of odds are absurd, IMHO, but it doesn't help the Jets that their QB is spending tonight in the hospital. Also Quinnen Williams may not be 100% next week.
  14. Holmes has this team set up to win the division and host a playoff game next year.
  15. Ben Johnson is getting his explosive plays today.
  16. Yes, I remember, but this is one of those questions a hall of fame voter will have to address in considering the eight QBs of the early 2000s who will be under consideration as of 2024, which is when Eli can be considered. I don’t think Stafford will be in the conversation unless he hits 60k passing.
  17. Yes, and how has Matt Ryan, drafted one year earlier than Matt Stafford, ended up with 10k more passing yards to date?
  18. It’s John Elway. Who played in a different era and is a no doubt hall of fame QB. Stafford is not. But if he hits 60k, that puts him in the conversation with his contemporaries who put up big numbers in the golden age of QBs. At this point, though, it seems as likely that he will never play another down than that he will hit 60k passing yards.
  19. Campbell must have read that thread and really got his act together.
