I think he still needs to get to 60k passing yards. Rodgers will get there next season and will be the ninth QB to reach that mark. If Stafford finished his career with the tenth most passing yards — and hit the 60k mark — with a Super Bowl in his first season off the sad sack Lions, it would be hard to keep him out. Also, don’t forget he was QB for two of the greatest WR seasons in history. And the New York media will remember what he did with Kenny Golladay.

We’ve come a long way from is this guy going to call plays to is this guy going to leave for a head coach position. I see the attraction to him as a candidate but it is a big stretch to go from one season as play caller to HC.

Stafford is at 52k yards now. 11th all time, and 12k behind Rivers, 10k behind Matt Ryan, 6k behind Rodgers. I’m assuming Stafford will need to get to 60k — two more 4k seasons — and one more playoff run to get serious consideration. This would be real hard to carry out but from a narrative perspective, if he came back in 2025 or 2026 to lead Detroit to a Super Bowl he would be in for sure for ending the curse of Bobby Layne.

He’ll get a couple of jet sweeps (and will decoy on a couple), and will get one or two quick hitches or WR screens. Probably will run a dozen snaps but if he gets targeted beyond LOS that will be gravy for him.

Sportrac has his market value as a 2 year contract with AAV of $6.9 million. His current deal is 2 years AAV of $3 million. He may not end up signing a $14 million deal, but he will likely be a lot closer to that than $6 million. Anyway, he will get his next contract somewhere else.

Williams will probably get a big contract offer from another team and will not stay. That would be fine as he is at his peak. Swift will not get a second contract offer next year, even if he plays a full 17 and goes for 2000 yards. Too many injuries. They need to draft someone who can be their 1b option at RB next season and step in as RB1 in 2024.

I’ve seen at least three mocks that have us taking Cam Smith from SC with our second first round pick. Don’t know how he compares to Ringo, who is gone by 10 in most drafts. I’d still love to see Holmes draft another big man for the DL with the Rams pick, and then a CB. But if the Rams lose out and Houston botches their tank job, I wouldn’t cry if Holmes picks Young.

Lockdown CB is a must. He will find his Jalen Ramsey. Those guys go early.

I saw some pundit speculating about Geno Smith. He is going to cash in this offseason. Does Holmes sign him to a three year deal front loaded with a big (for Geno) guarantee and draft Richardson with a 2, then design an RPO offense around their skill set?

Of course. And I assume that Allen and the other QBs who moonlight as RBs will have shorter careers than the prototypical drop back QBs who rely more on accuracy. But it does seem like GMs (Howie Roseman) are increasingly willing to take mobile, athletic QB prospects, roll with them until they break, then repeat.
