  1. In his statement he said neutralize Hamas, not remove - which is a different military goal. That said, it's a lower goal that could presumably happen with much less civilian casualties than removal of Hamas.... and some portion of his base (maybe even a large portion) still backlashed on him.
  2. More 70's suggestion: AC/DC, Black Sabbath (both super influential)
  3. As I start doing some really top notch rock and roll ad hoc sabr, I'm going with Pink Floyd and I think I'm comfortable calling them beatles-like. Some of the numbers I was looking at for record sales and tour grossing are really impressive.
  4. Yeah the Dead did that a lot too esp if we consider bluegrass as a variety of country but I don't think they're responsible for it, Eagles maybe be moreso
  5. I'd offer up the Grateful Dead
  6. I'm sure you considered these when you made the highlighted statement, but I feel like Led Zep and Pink Floyd and to a slightly lesser extend David Bowie (if he counts as a band) probably the closest to being a "Beatles"-like band in the 70s and I'm interested in hearing why you do not consider them as such. At a slightly lower tier even though I hate them I'd have to mention the Eagles. Maybe Aerosmith? Next level lower, CSNY?
  7. Grand wizard? Care to clarify?
  8. Thanks for admitting it's your subjective interpretation. I appreciate the honesty.
  9. you sure are obsessed with me did you notice that MTU had the stones to apologize to me for doing what you did?
  10. I didn't realize it either until others brought it up.
  11. That's awesome. I apologize for misquoting you
  12. Believe what you will about me.
  13. I actually didn't, thanks for the clarification. But why a hypothetical? What you call a hypothetical actually happened. We know before 10/7 that many of the perps were the folks you described and yet there was less calling out here by a lot.
  14. Please correct me if I'm misrepresenting but you seem to be saying that reactions here differed because of the way the perps look. Is that a fair interpretation of what you mean?
  15. I think the forum is definitely war hawk moreso than previously but I think that happened with Ukraine war. The current war is pushing it more hawkish. But I also do think that Democrats and Liberals (not leftists, people slightly to the right of them) in general have become more war hawkish. I am more hawkish as well. It's my contention that there was a prevalence, but a much lower prevalence, of antisemitic actions on campuses prior to October 7, and an explosion after October 7th. However, before October 7th, discussions of antisemitism on campuses was largely absent here. Now I will go into hypothetical land so feel free to disregard my hypothetical as you see fit: I also think that prior to October 7th, if a poster started posting about WHY the prevalence of antisemitic actions on campuses was happening/increasing (which are literally crimes) they would not be accused of condoning such acts. I am a trained and degreed criminologist - trying to explain why crimes happen in order to decrease their prevalence - is the essence of the field. I've worked on studies on the etiology of lynchings, software piracy, drug use, and several other crimes. In no way were those efforts to condone such acts, and arguing so indicts (pun intended) the entire field of criminology. They are efforts to understand the cause and proscribe potential solutions. Thus far, the only one that has come close to vocally agreeing with my take is 84 and I appreciate him reading what I actually posted and seeing my point.
  16. There's a real inconsistency in reactions in this forum pre/post Oct 7 as well. I'm not sure why given the argument that the war doesn't matter that multiple people have raised.
  17. MTU, Sue brought this bolded ETA sentence to my attention, I had not seen it before she mentioned it. I genuinely appreciate it. It was not my intent and accept your apology. Thanks again.
  18. always the victim.... by gaslighting do you mean apologizing to me for misrepresenting me? by gaslighting do you mean accusing me of things, then saying you didn't do exactly what you did? by gaslighting do you mean admitting you're inferring my words instead of debating my actual words (at least 2 have admitted this just this morning)? by gaslighting do you mean accusing me of not responding to posts that were proven didn't exist when I responded? by gaslighting do you mean calling a thread where all of the aforementioned is happening a "great thread"? Those happened. Facts.
  19. When's the next time to vote?
  20. I did not cut anything. That part was not there when I responded. It was ETA. Screenshot below. However, now that you have pointed it out to me, I accept his apology and am glad to move on. I also accept your apology for accusing me for intentionally disregarding something when I can prove I did not.
  21. Thanks. As you're admitting here that you're inferring on my words I'll let you take up the discussion with someone who actually holds the views you're inferring to me.
  22. Likewise, I also never said they were OK. Who said they were OK in order to initially phrase the question to me as "Ok too"?
  23. Yes, I was asking for clarification for your words because I like to respond to what is posted. I'm still interested in whether you think they're OK
  24. I don't think those are OK. I also don't think the ones are against Jewish folks are OK either. Do you think they're ok? You said "OK too" which seems to suggest there are some you think are OK for which we add to.
  25. I would be interested to read something about his recent transformation. My most lasting memory of him is during the Mueller hearing where he was trying to defend Trump but inadvertendly led Mueller to say that he could charge Trump with crimes after he leaves office.
