What in the actual flying foxtrot is going on with this team?

I shared these guys in the “what are you listening to” thread and now it’s time for the geeky stuff. Lots of loopers and they are using microtones. I didn’t know what that was so I’ll include a video of an explanation which makes it very clear. It’s essentially a 24 note scale and it’s not some Willy Nilly “find an odd note” technique. It’s very Asian based with a whole lot of jazz. These guys are innovators and need to be appreciated for the sheer genius of what they do. Drummer brings it. Hard.

We really enjoyed “Project Hail Mary”. When I saw the previews I thought “oh, a 2026 ET”. Glad I tried it anyway. It was funny, entertaining and occasionally tension-filled. Also the plot twist toward the end was really well done.

Two players I love to watch play: Kwan and Witt. I also despise how good they are against the Tigers.

I’d never heard that song before, thank you! When it started I found it pretty generic and formulaic (which is how I view 99% of the genre). Then the line about his mama and the train hit and I audibly laughed! I also realized that this was original from back in the day which helped create the genre and had been copied 1000s of times since - so hat tip to the originator. I view it the same way that I view people who fawn over “Pet Sounds”: I guess you had to be there to appreciate the groundbreaking nature.

Last weekend I did around 20 hours of yard work over the course of 3 days. This past weekend I did at least 11. I’m stiff. I’m sore. The satisfaction though is worth it.

You’ll do well to buy some KSwiss pickleball shoes. Plus I can definitely recommend compression socks and leg sleeves. On my left leg I also wear a calf compression sleeve. You’ll do a lot of short bursts and your ankles and calves will know it.

I wonder if Bobby Scales consumes a lot of caffeine or if he is naturally this high strung.
