I'm sure the league will invest another new rule that we've never heard of, cost the Lions the game, and give the bye the win. Seriously though, I feel really good about where this team is at the bye week. They are 5-2 and have shown they can beat good teams and win the games they are supposed to. Some of the things we were worried about as fans, like their offensive line cohesion after losing Ragnow, ability to run block as effectively, their pass rush, and how losing both coordinators would effect this team haven't appeared to have had a significant negative impact on this team. They are hitting their stride on offense under Morton and he's got Gibbs in particular really looking strong. On defense, Sheppard has the pass rush looking strong after a lackluster opener against Green Bay. Had we played a bit better in KC, not made so many coverage mistakes on defense, and not gotten jobbed out of a TD by the league, we could be 6-1. We're 5-2 though and I'm fine with that because I like how this team has been playing.

I really like the philosophizing of Alan Watts on religion. He has the ability to be as articulate and knowledgeable on the subjects of atheism, the idea of a deity, and collective religion without the condensation that you sometimes get from atheists like Christopher Hitchens or Matt Dillahunty. Now, I haven't watched or listen to every speech or lecture that Watts has ever gave, so may be is a condescending prick somewhere, at some time. But I really enjoy the academic way he walks you through the reasons there is no ordained God, no ordained religion, no deity that is the divine authority.

I complained about Glenn back in 2022. I didn't necessarily want him fired back then, but I did feel that Aubrey Pleasant got scapegoated for a lot of Glenn's defensive breakdowns and coaching mishaps. Glenn's risking being a one and done in New York if he doesn't get a win here soon. His team looks like they are immature and undisciplined. He looks the same way as a Head Coach. As bad as the early Lions teams were under Campbell, I don't think you could say those things about Campbell or his team. It was simply an issue of talent on the field.

Our defensive line abused Baker tonight and had him hearing footsteps all night. Our secondary gave him no time to get a receiver open either. We shut them down all night. Great job all around by the defensive unit. A fine job by Kelvin Sheppard coached a great game too.

Imagine a starting outfield of Bernie Williams in CF, Bobby Higginson in RF, and Luis Gonzalez in LF. That would have actually been fairly solid in the field and in the batting order.
