With a solid team approach at the plate, 2 runs doesn't make an insurmountable lead.

That was the babip inning from hell.
Absolutely!!

Such much for a lead

Will Olson's first walk hurt him?
-
A run in the first inning. Keith gets a hit.
-
Wow! Stolen base!
-
How about that!! A walk by Medows.

I predict a Pirates win. The Tigers had a lot of problems with Keller in the past IIRC.

After watching Sunday's game, my question is, have they made Javy Baez the hitting instructor?
The general overall hitting approach was not FCL league standards. Absolutely disgusting.
I think with TORK!, we have seen the second coming of Rob Deer. Spencer Deer, ugh. Here's hoping he doesn't become Spencer Oyler.

So far, this team has been fun to watch. My biggest take away so far has been that the pitching has been superb. As for the start, we have a light schedule in March and April. It must be noted that it's early.

I thought at of the beginning of the season we could sweep the White Sox, the Mets, and the A's to start the year, and still finish the year with 84 wins. It is a long season, but it is nice to see after the last multiple dismal starts.

Matt Manning returns to Detroit by June 15, as Kenta Maeda goes down.
Parker Meadows has a 4 WAR season.
Reese Olson pitches a minimum of 140 innings.
Jake Rodgers hits 35 homers.

Kind of an odd story in DetNews today that the players - unhappy about the way FA has gone this year, were agitating not to replace Tony Clark, but for Clark to replace his number two guy. It's a 'who cares' issue but still an odd dynamic.
It is possible that the players are trying to build a collusion case against the owners?

Spending doesn't guarantee anything. This year's free agent class wasn't anything to get excited about.
So many free agents that are out there represent a five to 7 year commitment for 2 years production, if the team is lucky. That is a recipe that will hamstring a team.
Chapman, Yamamoto, and Ohtani do not excite me, nor does Jack Flarhety for that matter.
What I am looking for are solid contributors that don't effectively hamstring a team. I am tired of seeing the Jordan Zimmerman types waft through Detroit, having all the usefulness of teats on a gelded boar hog.

After seeing the projections thus far, I am very tempted to put money down on the Tigers beating the 79 win projection by Vagas odds makers, although I realize the odds will change. I see an 84 win team.

I though it was half your age plus 7. Otherwise, a 20-year old could only date women 25 or older. At what point does the formula change?
Under 18 they are protected by law, over 75 they are protected by nature. Anywhere in between is fair game.

Devin Sweet?
A likely candidate. Nick Maton might be conceivable as well.

So, who is removed from the 40 man to make room for Kieth?

Mize settles on what seems to be a deal that could have been made earlier. Hmmm...

I assume nothing will change for practical purposes except if you don't pay for cable/satellite then you will have an option through Prime. It just bugs me that the local media can't write an article to say such a thing. That's what people want to know. They dont care who owns what or who is paying who, they just want to know "Can I watch the Tigers on the same channel I always do?" Why can't they just say that if it's true and make it easier for readers? Are they so wrapped up in details they don't see the big picture?
The way the article reads, I am confused. Does the agreement cover streaming rights after the 2024 season or does it start in 2024? If it starts in 2024, I am covered through amazon. If Amazon starts streaming in 2025, then I will need to renews my Bally sports subscription in a couple of weeks. I think my move is to let the bally subscription lapse and see how this shakes out over the next few weeks.

A lot of hyperbole in here this morning... It does strike me as penny wise, pound foolish though, but there's no tangible evidence out there that going to arbitration has any effect on performance or relations with a player going forward. I just wonder if preparing for and attending the hearing comes close to exceeding the salary gap.
It's also possible Mize's camp was pushing for a higher number during negotiations, or the negotiated contract was a deal with some kind of incentive structure, and then filed with a much lower number than he was asking for originally.
This all seems to make sense. I read McCosky's article on the the Mize arbitration case, and that seemed to lack basic clarity of thought.
As a beat writer, there should be some sense of duty to clarify. I know, I know I just branded my self as a reprobate from the stone age.

I would get excited if we had one more position players capable of 1.5 WAR, like a different 3b guy. I agree that we can't be 7 or 8 games under .500 at the 20 game mark.

Keller played Tork like a fiddle. Can't anyone on this team stay disciplined enough to at least advance the runner.
