I’m very meh on this trade.  I’ll trust Brad but it sounds like we’ve acquired another #2 corner at the cost of a 3rd round pick.

There is almost zero chance getting a player as good as Davis at 93.

Fans way overall picks after 50

Pretty much, I like the "Holmes" strategy. I'd hoard draft picks and keep pumping young blood into the system. No problem splurging on a free agent who really fits, but give up premium draft capital and pay a premium salary for one player, no.

the vast majority of draft picks never amount to anything

So he can't hit and he can't field but that doesn't matter because one of them new age stats tell you what's really important, right?

Well come on, explain to the class why sucking at hitting and fielding doesn't mean he's a waste of a roster spot?

    speaking of defensive....

Along with his physical measurables he also posted the best 3 cone drill of any QB(6th among all players) and one of the best for a QB period in the past 10 years so that showed his elite athleticism. Also threw it 61mph, 2nd only to Milton(62) and again one of the best ever at the combine barely behind Josh Allen's 63 so he answered any doubt about his arm strength if there were any.

He did miss some throws though but he also was throwing to an unfamiliar target so that couldve effected his timing a bit.

Despite that though I think his combine performance puts him in the QB3 discussion and barring something crazy atleast a top 15 pick.

though remember fans and analysts can overrated and overvalue qbs. Remember at this time last year wasn't will levis like a lock to go in the top 10?

I think if you gave Brad Holmes the choice of spending money to add two good players, on team favorable deals versus one elite player, on a max contract, he's going to add good players. I think anyone expecting or hoping for an A-tier Chris Jones, L'Jarius Sneed, Brian Burns, Jaylon Johnson type player is just setting themselves up to be disappointed. I've come to the conclusion myself that it doesn't matter how close we are to a Super Bowl, Holmes is not deviating from the philosophy that brought him this far. We'll add a couple of nice players from the B-tier of free agency as we did last year and call it a day.

It's possible but also let's not forget he hasn't been in the position before and its not like the rams were afraid to add big name guys. So who know where he stands. In the past it didn't make sense. Now, it might make more sense because Super Bowl windows don't last long

Ah, the annual tradition of PECOTA spoiling the kool-aid fans have been drinking all offseason.

Meh. PECOTA got two of 10 playoff teams right last year and had the Diamondbacks at 74 wins. I think we can take anything it says with a MASSIVE grain of salt

It's really a shame the Lions won some meaningless games at the end or else they could have had one of the top CBs in the draft.

According to what I find online, DeJean runs a 4.5 40 with the average 40 time of a cornerback in the NFL being 4.48.  So while he's not a burner, he seems to have enough speed to do the job.

    High school testing. Guys improve

I've seen every snap he's played, I'm telling you he's plenty fast

Couple rags I was reading stated DeJean would "probably shift to Safety in the NFL"...

I don't know how accurate that is...

But it probably wouldn't help our CB deficiency if that were to become abundantly clear/ true.

I'd be fine with Quin Mitchell.

And there does seem to be some depth at CB this year. May even be able to find another starter in the 3rd (eventually) round. I'll trust Holmes to find 1 or 2 of these guys.

He's plenty fast to play corner

The talk of playing safety is cause he is a ball Hawk who can tackle and might be even better as a centerfielder depending on the scheme.

Our passing game coordinator, Tanner Engstrom, might get the Tampa OC job.

    I have a wild idea...

Hire Teddy Bridgewater as our next passing game coordinator.

    If he wants that job...

    Interesting idea?

I think that is a bit of a jump and bypassing Mark and The slash for basically the deputy OC job as they've been on staff for a few years and have been coaching for a bit.

It kind of seems like a **** move by Johnson so withdraw from a job this late while the team is literally in the air coming to interview you. This is now the second time he has teased teams about being interested in a job and then withdrawn. I wonder if he gets as much consideration next year?

Doubt it. McDaniels quit on a team six days after being hired and still got interviews. I doubt anyone will hold it against Johnson for deciding to stay after a heartbreaking loss with a young team.
