  1. Vierling is one of our 3 best hitter over the course of the season. Hitting him leadoff is reasonable given the lack of quality hitters.
  2. .200-.220 with around 20 HRs is a reasonable best case outcome, and combined with his defense in CF that would be a damn good player.
  3. Where do you get this data?
  4. Yeah the biggest thing he's missing is the plus command that he was supposed to have. You can get away without having great swing and miss stuff in the zone as long as you can consistently stay ahead in the count and use a mix of pitches to keep hitters off balance and get swings and misses on pitches out of the zone. The problem is Mize doesn't have the command to locate well enough within the zone yet to consistently induce takes and get ahead in the count. And then when he will get into 0-2 and 1-2 counts he will throw a couple breaking pitches that are a foot out of the zone so it's just an easy take for the hitter.
  5. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/top-38-prospects-detroit-tigers/ According to fangraphs he had a 60 grade splitter and slider, a 70 grade cutter, and a 55 grade fastball. Far cry from a guy who had no swing and miss pitches when he came out.
  6. By everyone. He was the consensus 1-1, that doesn't happen without showing plus pitches/tools.
  7. His splitter was considered a 60 grade pitch.
  8. He did ask my grandpa if he liked baseball, but he told him no cause it's too boring. So Scott explained the pitch clock to him and how it's really sped up the game. Apparently my grandpa also had a story about when he was working for Dominos he shared a hotel room with Tom Monaghan and Tom used his toothpaste.
  9. So the Monday after Father's day my grandpa went shopping at Jos A Bank in Birmingham. Afterwards he forgot where he had parked and was wandering around looking for his car when a lady carrying a baby saw him and offered to help. After driving him around for a while without finding the car my grandpa said to just drop him off so she could take the baby home. She refused to just leave him walking around during the heat wave so she took him to her house where her husband was working from home. The husband then drove my grandpa around to look for his car, but they still couldn't find it. My grandpa had left his phone in the car so eventually they called my uncle who was able to give them the location of the car. Anyways, it turns out that it was Scott Harris and his wife who drove my grandpa around Birmingham to help him find his car.
  10. Do you really think you've kept that opinion quiet?
  11. 10 Ks and 19 swinging strikes from Mize and still gets hit around.
  12. Not only that, Salvador Perez was hitting like an MVP and Seth Lugo was pitching like a Cy Young, both absurd outlier performances. Lugo still hasn't fully come back to earth yet either his ERA more than a run lower than his xERA. People upset and acting like the Royals have passed us lol. They have an MVP in Bobby Witt Jr who is gonna be wasted in KC.
  13. Oh I know, I was making fun of those guys I think the clarity is not that we cut him, but that we don't give him any ABs that he doesn't earn. So we can try to address 1B with no regards for Tork, and if he forces his way back into the lineup, well then we'd be sitting in a pretty good spot.
  14. Only thing I can remember was him talking about a well hit ball to RCF that was caught and he commented in AAA that's a HR. I didn't really read it as a complaint, more so just acknowledging the difference in difficulty between AAA and the majors.
  15. My post was tongue-in-cheek.
  16. I just wonder if it removes all need to keep working hard now that he's got his big pay day.
  17. But think of all the free all stars that are just sitting out there for the taking.
  18. Brewers have the second lowest first pitch swing rate and it seems to be working just fine for them.
  19. The Royals are really just having a fluke year. They have Bobby Witt and a terrible farm system. Their prospects as a team going forward is nothing to be jealous of.
  20. Well it's a $28 million contract over 6 years, so there is no downside risk. The contract will have zero impact on any decision making going forward if Keith is a total bust.
  21. Because Keiths development is important to the organization long term and Ibanez is not.
  22. It's obviously just death threats on social media.
  23. Fortunately for us we know that free agency is on the table, and our owner has proven he's willing to spend big enough to acquire quality players in FA. Now whether the players end up being quality signings will depend on Harris.
  24. I saw some photos showing that he has made some changes to his stance.
  25. And in 107 games last season Rogers hit 21 HRs with a 96 OPS+.
