  1. He's 2 and a half years younger than all but Wood and Blalock, and his OPS is at least .200 more than everybody other than Flowers. None of them are really useful comparisons.
  2. He started the year in Erie, the IP at WM were just a rehab stint.
  3. Right, you can't clearly see the glove under the ball. The odds of him getting the glove fully under the ball to the exact millimeter without the ball touching the grass, but you being unable to see any part of the glove under the ball when it bounces is so small. The overwhelmingly likely reason you can't see the glove under the entire ball is because the ball blocks the view of his glove when it hit the ground.
  4. Never seen anything that bad. Literally missed pitches 6 inches out of the zone in all four directions. And called with absolutely no consistency.
  5. Would be a nice add. We also have a strong farm system that will allow us to trade for another impact bat as well if one becomes available. We absolutely need to add somebody, preferably a RHH, that we can pencil in for a 120+ OPS+. Vierling/Keith going from 3rd/5th to 5th/6th would really give you a deeper lineup, probably a fringe top 10 lineup, with upside for more depending on the development from the young guys. Like if Keith is able to make a jump to a 110-115 OPS+ guy that's probably a top 10 lineup. Greene making a jump to a 145-150 guy would also do that. There is a very clear path to a top 5 lineup by adding an Alonso type and trading for another impact hitter at the deadline, or preferably in the off-season.
  6. He's just making a joke about the movie Rounders.
  7. Those are old odds before the wild card round.
  8. Weird you'd have that view because Illitch has really own shown the opposite.
  9. There is no real difference between losing in 3, 4 or 5. Either way you are eliminated. None of the games are more or less valuable. It would make sense to pitch Skubal on short rest if he was set to pitch game three because then you could get two starts instead of one. Moving from two starts to starts changes nothing.
  10. If he's never done it before, he would have no idea what impact it would have on him.
  11. A must win game 4 is no more valuable than a must win game 5. We'll need to win a non Skubal start either way.
  12. I do know that he still has a San Fran area code. But also the Giants already promoted Buster Posey to the president of baseball operations.
  13. That's just when coverage starts, so the pregame show.
  14. Who is that calling the game with him?
  15. He will 100% pitch to Alvarez at the least.
  16. Given they have two good LHP starters and three more in the bullpen, I'm not sure if I'd agree with that.
  17. It is the same Shelton. And I swear I saw Scottwood post in a thread here recently, though he's not nearly as active as he used to be. He also occasionally posts on a Michigan forum I'm on.
  18. Tonight the magic number is 0. Tomorrow it resets to 13.
  19. Top of the order for KC vs 7-8-9 for the Nats.
  20. Yes, that's why the magic number with the Royals was 7.
  21. Would love nothing more. I've maintained all year that they are an absolute fraud. If a 34 year old Salvador Perez is your 2nd best position player, you have a a sub .500 roster.
  22. Best choice is to have him available for the last game if it's a must win and if you're lucky you can save him for the wildcard round.
  23. We have an off day before and after the series with Baltimore. So we can bump Skubal to the first Rays game and he can pitch two more or normal rest.
  24. Yeah, I'd be fine giving up a backend top 10 type in A ball for him. If we're parting with Clark and McGonigle it would be to acquire a player like Skubal where we're gonna have them for 3 playoff runs. Hopefully we just sign him in free agency. A 2-3-4 of Greene-Vlad Jr-Carpenter would be a lot of fun.
