  1. Didn't Bigbie rake in AA?
  2. I'll never forget him missing out a cycle because he hit two triples.
  3. 14th round draft pick and he had a 28.5% K rate as a 23 year old in A ball.
  4. Those issues would not make him turn into a singles hitter. If he's able to hit .270 it means these weaknesses are not a flaw exposing him against ML pitching, and that means he will not struggle to hit for power. If those numbers indicate a weakness that will be exposed, it means he's gonna be hitting .220 and not putting enough balls in play for his power to make up for it. Also a 27% whiff rate is above average, and not at all a red flag for a 21 year old in AA. He's a power hitter, he's gonna whiff a lot. Since he's a 1B the bar is really high for what his offense needs to be in order to be a real impact player, and he's probably never reach that level.
  5. People are just like that for backups for some reason, seemingly get extra mad at them whenever they don't get a hit. They get upset just seeing them in the lineup and then let confirmation bias take over. I remember last year seeing people complaining and asking when Hinch was gonna stop putting Jones in the lineup and I looked up his stats and he had like a 125 wRC+.
  6. 112 wRC+ entering today. The projection systems mostly project him to be around 90-95.
  7. Adell has a 91 wRC+. Why trade for a guy like that?
  8. Do you think Clark would have made the major league roster out of Spring Training if he reminded the Tigers that they actually drafted him before McGonigle? Did Mize ask for more in arbitration than Skubal because he was the #1 pick while Skubal was a 9th rounder? Ignoring all professional information and saying higher draft pick = better player is flat earther level logic.
  9. Looks like you would have lost some money: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/max-clark-talks-hitting/ "Clark: “I think I would have to go… I think I’m closer to JJ. Kevin is in a stratosphere of his own. I mean, he’s probably already a top five player in the American League at 21 years old. It’s hard to compare yourself to a guy like that, whereas JJ is still… like I said, he’s going to be the Rookie of the Year, and he might be an All-Star. But we have very similar tool sets. We have the ability to hammer the ball and to take our walks. But again, Kevin is on another level. He just hammers the ball. I would put JJ and me more hand in hand.”" Turns out you can have an ego/confidence in yourself without being completely delusional.
  10. Its legitimately insulting to his intelligence to suggest Max would use their draft pick status and not the 2.5+ professional seasons they've both played since then to argue he's better.
  11. That's one of those stats that just sounds like BS when you hear it. And it turns out it is. I just picked 2006 as a random year the Tigers had good pitching and checked the schedule, I was curious how often 2 shutouts in a 5 day span happen, and it happened 5 times through June, so as I expected it's not uncommon. Pudge was the starting catcher for back to back shutouts against Houston on June 27th and June 28th. This must be restricting it to exactly a five day span between games, and that would make this the absolute dumbest one of those ridiculous cherry picked stats I've ever seen.
  12. Its pretty standard for top prospects to sign big league extensions these days, I doubt Clarks camp would not engage in those talks. His extension would be less than McGonigles, assuming the same number of years, and that wouldn't be an issue. Clark is well aware that McGonigle is a better player than him. A contract less than McGonigle, but more than Weatherholts would not be an issue.
  13. Overwhelming consensus where?
  14. He needs to put together a full good season to be considered part of the core. Core players are not guys that are easily replaceable/upgradeable.
  15. Skubal has no real regular season value to the Dodgers. They gave Tucker $60 mill and he's been awful and it hasn't mattered. They knew going into the season they had the best roster in baseball. Skubals value is 100% about his post season value. They would not have given up a bigger package in the off season than at the deadline.
  16. The irony of how much he over exaggerates how bad everything is at the ML level is that he said he thinks a complete scrub prospect like Southisene will be a good player. On fangraphs the guy is ranked 33rd in the Cubs organization, which is not great, has a future value of 35+, and he hasn't hit a single HR in over 700 PAs between A/A+. His ceiling is a guy who hangs around as a backup going up and down for a few years, but he said he thinks he'll be a good player.
  17. Its a troll account.
  18. He gets no props for getting the team right, everybody knew the Dodgers were overwhelmingly the most likely trade partner.
  19. You said the Tigers would land 2-3 impact players. It is unlikely that any one of the three prospects ever turns into an impact player.
  20. There was no reason to expect more than that. The people clamoring for trading Skubal were always living in fantasy land about what teams are willing to give up for a rental.
  21. At catcher a .220 average would play.
  22. Who ranked those three Cubs players as top 50 prospects?
  23. 3 top 50 prospects according to who?
  24. Well that would be a terrible return for Skubal.
