  1. I know the Lions are good now so there isn't nearly as much draft talk but since we're under 2 weeks now, I'd like to get the pulse of Motownlions to see who you guys like, your draft crush or which positions you prefer that the Lions target.

My crush is Legette, he gives me serious Deebo vibes and he definitely fits the Holmbell grit quota. I know that offensive line and corner are long term needs and short term in the case of corner but I really want to see a playmaker with the 1st rounder whether it be receiver or EDGE rusher.

disappointed that they werent booed off the floor.

I don't think the fans care enough to.

In any event, This is the worst season I've ever witnessed of any sports team of mine, even worse than the 0-16 Lions because at least there was a Stafford to look forward to and that team had zero expectations of doing anything, they weren't Year 4 of rebuild and still won literally nothing.
The previous 3 you can understand because they were true rebuild years and there was some progress to be talked about at least, there were a few years post-Isiah that were really rough but they immediately got Grant Hill out of it then they got competitive pretty quickly. 2010-2020 was rough but there were a few competitive seasons thrown in there even if there was no hope for them to be anything more than mid.

This season from the record losing streak to injuries to the worst coaching job I've ever seen to whatever the hell this roster has been since Casper Grimes, Ausar, Stewart, Tech and now Cade have been shut down to Gores sounding like a bumbling idiot blaming the fans for not appreciating the Pistons for their community work to the lack of progress from just about all the young guy, all leading up to one of the worst ever drafts and free agency classes with not much on the trade market (as of now) to be excited about. Yeah,...pretty pretty pretttty bad.

Weaver must be salivating at the dream matchup of traditional bigs in tomorrow nights national championship.

I wouldn't be shocked to see him take Clingan if/when they drop to 4 or 5.

Nice game from Flynn, but the bigger story to me was Jaden and Jalen.

Jaden continues his streak of playing terribly. Missing layups, missing threes, turnovers, and poor defense. No Cade in the lineup and you'd think he'd come out swinging. Instead he sat on the bench watching Flynn.

Jalen once again did his best Andre Drummond impression. Terrible dribble drives that end in a blocked shot or turnover. Jumpshots that he's not capable of making. Complaining to the refs on offense when they don't bail him out of terrible decisions while Atlanta runs it down the court to score.

When that draft happened, I thought we came out on top. But the more I see, the more disappointed I get. Maybe it's just bad habits learned from being on a team with no winners or winning culture. Either way, change needs to come at the end of this season, and the more I see the more I'm OK with one or both of these guys getting moved.

J&J need to go. Been saying that pretty much all season, low IQ limited skill players that get by on athleticism and pretty much athleticism alone. Keep the high IQ duo of Cade and Ausar, keep Fontecchio as a 3 and D, Sasser and Stewart off the bench and fill out the rest of the roster with the Ivey and Duren trade returns, the draft pick and a few capable vets through free agency.

Their trade value, Ivey's in particular, might have already deteriorated but they should do it now before the rest of the league is wise to what they are. I hate to say it because there's a bundle of talent with both but they, one, don't fit here and, two, are never likely to play winning basketball.

I wonder who that will be.

Just one game but I wasn't overly impressed with Flagg. I was expecting more considering the massive hype but....just one game so it doesn't mean much. I was more impressed with Harper.

Would love to get Claxton if the money is right.  Huge pass on PG13.

I'd be happy with Claxton as well but Duren at the 4....is not ideal. I actually think Stewart if his 3 point shooting this season is for real is a better fit alongside Claxton. A Duren/Claxton frontcourt would be too clogged. I'd assume Duren is trade bait if they signed Claxton because it doesn't make much sense otherwise and I'd be fine with that, I bet some team would really pony up for him based on the raw production and athletic profile.

Hell will freeze over before PG13 plays in Detroit so it doesn't matter if the Pistons want him or not.

Remember when a lot of us thought this team could be on the periphery of the playoffs this season?  Good times.

Did people actually think this? I thought 30 wins would be a successful season, I can't imagine that many if anybody expected the Pistons to be a bubble playoff team.

I can honestly say that nobody saw them as a 12 win team either though.

I'm still not sold on Jamo. I'm not sure what the issue is, but he's been largely ineffective. Maybe part of it is defense scheming against him? Maybe part of it is just having St. Brown being so effective that other receivers don't get look. I dunno. But Jamo had only 24 receptions last year for 354 yards. That puts him behind not only St Brown (1515), but also Josh Reynolds (608) and Raymond (489), not to mention Sam LaPorta (889). Heck, Gibbs (316) wasn't too far behind Jamo.

I just don't know if Jamo is going to live up to a high first round pick status. I know it's early... he was mostly a rookie this year and missed time at the beginning of the year because of the NFL's stupid rules. But I just don't have a lot of faith that Jamo will ever be a great receiver.

I think there's a good chance that Jamo will break out at some point, the talent and the will is just too much especially in this BNL environment for him to fail, but the Lions are putting a lot of eggs in the Jamo basket to be a true #2 so there is always the chance it doesn't work out then what? DPJ is the #3 currently, that's....sketchy. I know LaPorta is considered a main target but he's still a Tight End at the end of the day. The Lions need an X receiver but maybe DPJ becomes that guy, he did have good numbers in Cleveland and is young.

good luck to reynolds.  i'll never get over his drops against the niners.  cost them a super bowl.

I hear you but it's really too bad that the recency bias of the drops overshadow how many big plays he made for the team last season and being the first real receiver that Goff had  in his time in Detroit and playing a big part in restoring Goff's confidence back to the Pro Bowl level QB he was prior, one of the first real "culture" guys of the Holmes/Campbell era which is what he really should be remembered for not the two drops at the most critical moments. I get it but it's unfortunate that it's what shaped his Lions legacy.

We are going to need a WR #3 because I don't think Raymond or DPJ adequate replacements for Reynolds. As much as I would prefer a CB in round 1 now with Sutton off the team, I wouldn't be opposed to taking someone like a Keon Coleman at pick #29. And if a WR is their BPA on the board and a culture fit, I could see them taking one at #29.

Keon Coleman doesn't pass the turd test. Brian Thomas is the guy I'm thinking of but Brad might have to trade up for him but it's Holmes, I could see him taking somebody none of us predicted at 29 and that's at the oft chance that he actually stays at 29.

If anyone in this front office or coaching staff survives the first week of this offseason, the NBA should step in and remove Gores immediately.

They (the NBA) won't. Just saying they should.

No way that's happening, this is all a part of "restoration"...restoring embarrassment to the Pistons franchise as if it wasn't embarrassing enough already.

Either way, it doesn't matter. Weaver is only a small symptom of the disease plaguing the Pistons. Until Gores sells, ineptitude will reign supreme in Pistons Land.

Not that power rankings mean anything but ESPN put out their post FA one today and the Lions are number 2 behind the Chiefs. I have to believe this has to be the highest they have ever been on any power rankings since that became a thing.

Easily. In fact, there's probably not even a handful of seasons in which they were even considered top 10 before a season. This is completely new territory for any Lions fan under the age of 80.

Givony has a new mock.  Top 5 in order:

    Zaccharie Risacher

    Alex Sarr

    Rob Dillingham

    Nikola Topic

    Donovan Clingan

Former #1 Ron Holland is down to 12th.

You know it's a trash draft when Clingan is getting top 5 mention. Dillingham would be mid teens in most drafts as well.

he must be using win totals in a calendar year, because those are not the pistons season win totals.

still, either list is quite depressing.

    You're right. Regardless, they've gone from 23 to 17 to 12 which isn't reaching 17. At this rate, they'll win 2 by '25-'26.

Can you imagine being a 19 win team then getting progressively WORSE the next 2 years? The suck is unprecedented. Sadly, this might not even be rock bottom. Just wait until they max injury prone Cade and throw the bag at Tobias this offseason. I wish I could throw a shoe at Gores.

  16. Haven't seen one minute of the last 3 games and my life is better off for it.

The thing is, the season has been bad enough but there's nothing to look forward to in the offseason. This draft is THE worst I've ever seen and I don't think it's close (maybe the Anthony Bennett draft comes close in terms of hype going in, not looking at Giannis, Gobert, McCollum etc. in retrospect), there's nothing in free agency to get excited about and nothing on the trade market currently that looks all that enticing unless one gets excited about Dejonte Murray.

I can see it now, they draft some prospect who is years away from making impact if ever then they see a Bogey-level guy (Tobias?) and run it back with this core. Oh yeah, and the token reclamation project that this bum GM loves to hang his hat on. This makes me long for the Reggie Jackson/Drummond era. Hell, this might be worse than Charlie V/Gordon/Smith. Didn't think that was possible yet.... here we are.

What the hell is "just a common domestic abuse"?    Should there even be such a thing.    It's bad enough if he abused her, but to me, it's worse when you add the fact that he's a football player - stronger than almost anyone else.   It's just not acceptable in any way.   Go punch a wall.      IF he did it....we haven't heard the whole story.

I wasn't making light of any domestic abuse, a man putting his hands on a woman (or vice versa) is unacceptable but I was talking about the difference between striking a woman and the alleged attempting to throw her out of a 3 story window. One is domestic abuse, the other is attempted murder. I'm just saying that, by law, the latter is far more serious than the former.

I don't believe Ray Rice ever played another down in the NFL after what he did went public. However, Joe Mixon knocked a woman out cold on camera and he was still drafted and signed to a contract.

Kareem Hunt too. Unless Sutton is serving jail time, he'll get back in the league if it's just a common domestic abuse issue and not some of the horrendous things that have been rumored.

  19. Well, this is bad. Putting aside the football aspect of it which is relatively unimportant, these allegations are really bad and him allegedly evading the police makes it even worse. It's prudent to wait for my details to come out before burning him at the stake but, yeah, not looking good for Cam to say the least.

In terms of the football aspect, the Lions should act quickly with this so they can move forward while there are still some free agents out there because you don't want to shoehorn yourself into needing to draft a corner with a high pick.

The Zeitler signing is a nice cap to our offseason. This takes care of one of our biggest needs and gives Brad full ability to go BPA in the draft.

I think Holmes would have done this regardless but now it opens up more options at the draft where they aren't pigeonholed into taking a CB and/or guard with the top 3 picks because they have legit starters at those positions now. I still see a few immediate needs in #2 or #3WR because we don't know what Jamo is right now and a vet safety but neither are critical needs like Guard and Corner were headed into the offseason.
