  1. It was my hope going into last Saturday that Hutchinson would come up big and make a case for #1 and mission accomplished. That was actually one of the best games I've seen from an edge rusher in a big game in a very long time. It's creating a much better scenario for the Lions than it looked like several weeks ago. It's sort of like Suh vs. McCoy although none of these guys are close to the level of prospect that Suh was who was the most dominant college football player I've ever seen in his senior season.
  2. It shouldn't be shocking that Stafford has clammed up against good teams but I also think the Akers and Woods injuries are devastating to that offense. They have no run game and Woods is probably their best all around receiver. With that said, Stafford has made a lot of mistakes that were self inflicted. We've seen that movie before against top teams. They probably still make the playoffs but wouldn't be it lovely if they somehow missed and the Lions get the 17th or 18th pick.
  3. I always liked Hutchinson but as a fall back plan if they won a few games and fell to 2-4 in the draft but that Ohio State performance (against 1st round talent) was a major eye opener. I have a lot of time for players that come up big in big games and he was an absolute game wrecker on Saturday even beyond the numbers with many more pressures that forced rushed throws. He streamrolled that left tackle on several occasions, it was really impressive. I still have Thibodeaux a slight notch above because he has all the physical tools that the elite edge rushers have while Hutch is more of a high motor, relentless attacker type but it sure is an interesting debate to be had.
  4. When was the last time a #1 pick was traded (Goff draft I believe) and how many times before that? Furthermore, how many times did a team trade up to #1 to take a non-QB? Trade ups are almost always for a QB. It's just not realistic to expect a trade down. If the Lions end with #1, they will be drafting #1. It's just like the Okudah draft all over again. They're stuck taking a player with question marks. Maybe they should take a QB at this point since nobody else is #1 worthy, take Corral and bank on that big upside. It's not like he'll start next season anyway.
  5. A trade down would be preferable with no QB worth trading up for, I don't see there being much interest in the #1 pick. Kind of like the Okudah draft, the Lions are stuck at that spot. Hopefully Hutchinson shows some good stuff against Ohio State and puts his name in consideration.
  6. The bad news is that Thibodeaux laid a giant steaming pile of an egg on national TV against Utah so of course the Lions are likely picking #1 in a weak draft. I'm a Thibodeax fan but he hasn't looked like a #1 talent for most of this season. Might have to start taking a closer look at Hutchinson now because I doubt a trade down is possible.
  7. He was an excellent long range shooter in college and has good form but sure, if you want to doom him to being a poor shooter 10 games into his NBA career, have at it. But yes, would like to see less of the 1-8, 1-9 from three shooting nights. In any event, Stewart definitely went a little too psychotic but I'd be pissed too if somebody clocked me in the face intentionally and it seemed pretty clear that Lebron said something to set him off because he didn't really go psycho until after they had words.
  8. Yeah, I don't see the fit either. The Pistons have two big needs, shooters and an athletic big. Simmons fills neither of those although he would create a lot more open shots with his playmaking. I've gotta think, if there's any legs to these rumors, that it's an idea being pushed by Gores to bring in "starpower". It just seems like a Gores type of thing to make a panicked move like this for the sake of bringing in a big name player that could put some fannies in the seats.
  9. Why am I not surprised that you have this opinion? I think only Michigan homers, or people that are contrarians by nature, share this opinion. Hutchinson is good but he benefits from playing on a much a better defensive line where he's not the sole focus. Teams gameplan to avoid Thibodeaux. As far as an overall player is concerned, the whole package, Thibodeaux is the best player in this draft.
  10. Cade was good, I couldn't care less that he shot poor from 3 because I know those shots will start falling. He's doing everything else really well. It's why a box score only tells a small part of the story because you look at the 3 point shooting and assume he sucked but, no. Also, he came up big in the clutch AGAIN. In a close game midway through the 4th, he drew back in and the first 4 possessions went like this... Cade hits a mid range J, Cade drives past a guy and scores at the rim through contact, Cade drives past a guy and dishes out to CoJo for a three, Cade drives past a guy and dishes out to Frank Jackson for a three. Not to mention that he shut Brogdon down, down the stretch. The kid is good, really good, and is really clutch. Once the threes start falling, he's going to be a load to handle.
  11. No kidding. TP is just looking to scapegoat the coach like he does all the time for over a decade now. The fact of the matter is that this version of Goff (injured or not) wasn't much different than the Goff we saw all season and it was freaking raining hard at the stadium so running the ball a lot was the right play. Even if Goff was injured, what the hell was Blough going to do in those conditions throwing to a bunch of XFLers. Ridiculous criticism of the coach. Campbell deserves criticism for some things, this ain't it.
  12. Again with the ridiculous take. Decker took a lot of shit from the media and idiotic fans acting like internet doctors (a few that preside here) who questioned his toughness because he went on IR for the broken finger, people who would piss their pants if they said that to his face. He has every right to be frustrated about that.
  13. I think it matters, you always want the higher pick not only to get the pick of higher rated prospects but as a more valuable trade chip if they want to trade up or down for that matter. It might not mean much in the long run, but I will always root for the team holding my favorite teams' draft pick to lose as much as possible. Even in the Rams are in the Superbowl, I'd root for them to lose because I prefer the 31st pick to the 32nd (Ehh, I'd probably root for Stafford at that point). I guess you can say that I'm Magic Beanzzz obsessed.
  14. Not really. They owned Goff too the last couple of seasons.
  15. I'm surprised you, or any Lions fan, wasn't there for the beginning. What's best for the Lions should be what's best for Lions fans and the better the draft pick the better for the Lions. Then again, to each their own. If somebody wants to root for Stafford, who am I or anybody else to criticize you?
  16. lol. This and the Jefferson "is better than any RB on the roster and it's not even close" posts makes me wonder if you post purely for satire because these takes can't be for real.
  17. The Lions won't be the first 0-17 team... But they will be the first 0-16-1 team
  18. Have faith. I'm sure the Lions will be in a position to take him, the new GM and coach will be happy to have him. 😉
  19. Actually, I think it's Cade's overall game that will make him valuable in the long run. Cade can shoot, Green can also shoot but what sets Cade apart is his ability to impact the game in many different ways with last night being a prime example, although there were some mistakes mixed in which is to be expected at this early stage. The one thing Cade needs to work on is being more aggressive with the ball because he can get whatever shot he wants to when he puts his mind to it. The blow by reverse layup and spin move score in the paint being two examples late in the game last night.
  20. Green got punked after he blew by Cade and dunked, meanwhile Cade was out there facilitating, scoring at the rim, hitting a big three, taking a charge, rebounding and locking down Green forcing two late airballs after Green trash talked him. THAT'S why Cade went #1. He helps winning in different ways while Green scores some highlight reel buckets in a losing effort.
  21. It has nothing to do with Chet being white and everything to do with him being a toothpick and thin, tall guys generally being injury prone. One can say that Durant was thin too (still is obviously) but not THAT thin, Chet is Manute Bol level thin. Other than that, he has that "unicorn" skillset that teams covet with his size, shotmaking and playmaking ability and from what I've seen, he has an alpha "I'm going to take your soul" mentality so he'll I saw the Duke game too and love Banchero, like REALLY love his game. He looks like he could step into the NBA right now and be an impact offensive player. He has some defensive things to work on but that offensive skillset is NBA ready.
  22. That's the key right there, he's getting to whichever spot on the floor he wants and creating good looks for himself and his teammates. This is why I said after last game that I'm not concerned about his shooting statline. He's doing a lot of good stuff, it's only a matter of time until the shots start falling with more regularity.
  23. Surprisingly too. Who would have thought that the Jags would beat the Bills, Giants beat the Raiders with all their injuries, Arizona would crush the Niners without Murray, Hopkins etc. and that the Titans would crush the Rams without Henry. In any event, the Rams record was really propped up by wins against the Bears, Seahawks (without Wilson a lot of the game), Colts, Giants, Lions and Texans. They did beat Tampa but that was a really soft 7-1. They're 1-2 against legit teams and got pumped in the 2 losses. They're a good team but we really don't know how good they are.
  24. Murray was a #1 pick, much different situation.
  25. They just drafted Wilson at #2. I can't imagine in any scenario even if White plays well the rest of the season that they move on from Wilson. Even if White plays well the rest of the season, like Minshew did in his 1st season, you offer a 6th at most. I wouldn't mind taking a flier on a guy like that if he lights it up the rest of the season but a 3rd is waaaaay too steep.
