  1. Hopefully Cade can finish this one strong. Nice to finally see some of that #1 pick potential. I love Saddiq but man he is so much better shooting any kind of jump shot than he is going to the rim and shooting some kind of wild runner/layup. He is a big time weapon though I think with the right players around him. Another non impactul game for Hayes. Let him come off the bench where he can play less of a supporting role. He just disappears out there next to Cade. Diallo continues to play well though. Low volume since Cade came back but he's at least efficient.
  2. I know I am in the minority but spending a high draft pick on a receiver is not my first choice. They do need another guy but I think this team needs to be great on defense with the quarterback situation what it is. They are on their way to having a great offensive line. They should be spending their capital and resources in the offseason on defense as much as possible. I don't know what Chris Godwin would cost but I would love to get him on a 1 year deal at a reasonable deal.
  3. Goff was getting another year no matter what happened this year The problem the Lions have is that they are going to take 2 or 3 years to figure out what most people already know...you are up against it if Goff your #1 quarterback. Almost everything else will have to fall in place perfectly to win a Super Bowl. And then they will be scrambling to find their next quarterback once they realize this.
  4. His mechanics seem fine to me. I am hoping it is just taking a year to adjust to the deeper line. Next year will be telling.
  5. Cade and Diallo showing some nice chemistry tonight. It would be nice for that to continue to grow. Diallo has been quiet since Cade came back. Cade continues to struggle with poor shooting nights but I thought this was a solid all around game for him. I'd like to see this team with another good wing next to Bey, Cunningham, and Diallo. Killian is just giving us nothing right now.
  6. It's hard not to be at least a little bit disappointed. I was convinced before the season that at the very least, we could make him our main facilitator on offense. Now I am wondering if it would help him long term to play next to a more traditional point. He is a really good passer but so far, I just don't think the offense functions well when he is the primary ball handler.
  7. People who think this is a weak quarterback draft are deluded to the fact they think they can predict how a quarterback is going to adjust to the NFL. Relative to other quarterback drafts, it is pretty much impossible to predict how this qb draft will turn out. Especially when you consider there is no obvious number 1 who is a relatively safe bet.
  8. It is really starting to feel like the Greg Oden/Kevin Durant draft.
  9. Agree...I do not want Holmgren.
  10. Diallo and Frank Jackson both showed enough last season that I was mildly excited about them going into this year. Jackson was the guy I was actually higher on but Diallo appears to be the guy breaking out. I'd feel a little better about him if he was a good free throw shooter. He's probably never going to be much of a three point shooter so he needs to make hay in the paint and at the line. Crossing my fingers at least some of this sustainable and he becomes our next Christian Wood like find.
  11. 4 weeks ago there was nobody in the state of Michigan who thought Goff was our quarterback of the future. Then he has a few good games and now all the sudden everybody has got their hopes up. Big mistake.
  12. Unfortunately the NFL is a league where it's nearly impossible to win big and have sustained success without a good to great qb. I don't think the Lions have a choice. And it's such a crapshoot that I don't think it's even that bad of a bet. Take one every year until you find one. Otherwise, enjoy NFL purgatory.
  13. And that team disposed of him because they thought he was the main thing holding them back.
  14. I mean...I guess anything could happen. Everything would have to come together just perfect though for this to happen. Not a smart way to build your future.
  15. I can't believe some fans are coming around on Goff after a few good games. I may need to root for Goff to be awful the last two games so the Lions don't have any delusions that he is their quarterback of the future. I get we are stuck with him another year and that is fine. But they have to draft a quarterback in this draft sometime in the first 3 or 4 rounds. Then you just cross your fingers and hope for the best. It's not easy to find a quarterback but you have to at least try.
  16. Man, how many threes would Houstan take in today's game? He could average 25 points per game. I loved Lindsey Hunter today but he was never a great fit as a point guard. My recollection is the Pistons always tried to fit him into the traditional point guard role even though Grant Hill could handle the role just fine. Today, I think people are much more accepting of non traditional basketball roles, especially in the NBA.
  17. I can deal with the losing. I just want to have some hope though. I am curious how long the Pistons are going to remain committed to Hayes. He is getting a lot more of a chance than Sekou ever got. I can't really complain about this since we did spend the 7th overall pick on him and we don't really have anybody that is missing out because of him. But I hope we are not committed to him as our starting point guard next year.
  18. I still like Saddiq's future as a wing who can space the floor but he is so far out of his skill level when he puts the ball on the floor. And there are times where he passes up open threes. I know he is having a bad shooting year but he needs to shoot himself out of it to add value to this team. On cue, he passes up an open three to take a harder, off balance, open three. It's just nuts.
  19. I'm not sure this team can even get to 15 wins. It's going to take hot shooting nights to get it done. We are just bad at every position.
  20. Killian Hayes has basically been non-existent lately. Might help to win a few games to get another decent player on the wing with Cade and Bey.
  21. I am really not a believer in Casey so I guess the one good thing that could come out of this season is him getting fired.
  22. Even though we are actually having a pretty good shooting tonight, I am still disgusted about what I see from our offense. I just don't think Casey knows how to coach offense. Lucky he had Lowry in Toronto.
  23. It's a bit discouraging that we were supposed to be up and coming and we are now 4-19. Every time we have a lead in the second half, you just know we will eventually blow it.
  24. Nice to see Cade shooting better. Looks to me like his release has gotten a little quicker and more compact as well. Still has to cut back on the careless turnovers.
  25. Cade needs to play but it's hard to say we are better with him on the court right now. The three point shooting is killing us. Long term, he needs to be around a 40% three point shooter to really reach his ceiling. I am encouraged overall though. His makeup is outstanding and you can see why scouts have been raving about this since high school. He is pass first, very unselfish, always plays hard, and is a team first guy that naturally leads others. From a defensive perspective, I do think he is a better fit guarding forwards who are taller and not as quick. Trying to guard wings who are quicker is not a great matchup for him. And this is only going to get accentuated more as he adds much needed strength.
