The Pistons could just be talking Mathurin up because they like Murray. I’d still guess Murray before Mathurin but confidence level is low. There were reports claiming the Lions would possibly pass on Hutch for Thibodeaux as the draft got really close. It’s not unheard of for teams to try and put out misdirection.
-
I just think it’s poor judgement not to have some kind of clause to net a future first rounder if that pick ends up in the top 4.
-
Would the pick get bumped to a later year at least? I have never heard of a team trading for a pick that could just totally be forfeited.
-
I agree. It seems like he is starting to swing at more pitches, which is a step in the right direction.
-
That was my first thought as well. But with the three homers tonight, he now has 12 for the year between AAA and the big leagues. That's an improvement over what we are getting, which is low obp and low power.
-
He wasn't. But Candelario was the biggest reason for that. Now all the sudden Candelario looks completely lost. There is some bad luck involved there too.
-
I know Greene beat the shift last night with a hit. Boston was not shifting there. He's pulled two tonight already.
-
Not sure if there is a hitter in baseball that scares me more than Devers. Great play by Greene.

Agree about the skyline. I think it's one of the best in baseball. Even with the parking garage that detracts from it a bit IMO. The conversation about the sun detracting from the stadium is definitely relevant. I only go to one game a year but it is usually a day game and we always are careful about where we buy tickets.

Rich Hill looks bad. Any decent lineup would be putting a lot more pressure on him.
-
Yeah...that first inning was not as bad as the pitch count would you lead you to believe.
-
Candelario at bats are just as poor as they were before the injury. I'm really getting concerned that any promise he showed in 2020 and 2021 is not going to show itself again.

It felt like a much better inning that what Faedo pitched yesterday. Some bad luck and really good hitting by Boston.

Interesting article on ESPN about top pitching prospect shutting it down before the draft to protect their arms. It's insider only though. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/34084142/how-one-pitching-prospect-change-mlb-draft-forever-not-pitching My main takeaway from this is just anger at the Tiger's organization for using top 10 picks on pitching prospects three times since 2016.

Seems like it would be Chet or Banchero that falls if it happens. It seems like this board, myself included, has kind of moved on from the 3 big guys. It would be an interesting dilemma for sure.
-
Seems like this board has really come around on Murray the last 3 weeks.

I think Murray is considerably more versatile on offense than Bey. But I do agree with your point about needing athleticism. And I don't know how you get that in the lineup with Bey, Cade, and Murray as your wings. At least Grant gives you some of that. At the same time, Murray, Cade and Bey would be an electric combination on offense. So I don't know. Maybe you draft Murray and then try to find your own version of Marcus Smart.
-
If you draft Murray, I think that means the writing is on the wall that Grant isn't going to be here in two years. I am okay either way. I like Murray the more I learn about him but I also like Grant. Grant doesn't have near Murray's upside on offense but he is probably always going to be a considerably better defensive player.
-
I thought Grant played less hero ball when he came back from his injury and it was clearly Cade's team. I was done with him to that point but it was encouraging to see him defer and play the role he played in Denver.
-
Good call. Definitely a guy worth monitoring closer now. I also think you can make a case that strong obp guys are becoming more valuable with home runs down.
-
I would throw Kreidler in there too even though he got injured so the sample size is smaller.
-
I thought we might have one top 100 prospect once Tork and Greene graduated. Now, depending on how the season plays out, I think it is likely we do better that. I would say Wilmer is more likely than not to end up top 100, possibly even top 50. And then there are a number of guys with a chance to sneak in there. Wenceel, in particular, could shoot up prospect lists if he gets moved up a level and continues his strong season at AA. It would be nice if Dingler could get it going considering he is generally considered one of our higher upside prospects.
-
His recruiting profile lists him at 6'4. Pretty impressive growth spurt. I'm intrigued because part of the reason I like Ivy is for his defensive profile. Sounds like you get something similar with Daniels.
-
I don't how anybody can make a judgement on these pro day workouts. Seems like they are all going to look great. I would put much more stock into measurables and game action.

The Tigers have the market cornered on organization depth outfielders. Cameron, Baddoo, Castro, Haase, Reyes...probably a few more I am missing.
