  1. The schools deciding this are not hurting for cash. If a few schools do need a quick infusion of cash, get a loan with a set payment. Any deal where you have to pay a percentage of future revenue/profits is always a bad deal. Especially since the percentage will not be determined by the schools losing money. It will be determined at the conference level, and the conference is swimming in money. It is going to be funny watching these great institutions of higher learning getting absolutely fleeced by the finance bros.
  2. Not sure I have heard of that company. I just found it interesting they are listing AI as the reason for the layoffs. Major Grand Rapids company laying off 400 people due to AI, 200 in West Michigan
  3. More details are emerging about the possibility of CalPERS becoming an investor, and they aren’t encouraging. The proposed plan is a one-time $2.4 billion cash infusion for a 20-year deal, giving CalPERS a 10% stake in all future payouts. That kind of agreement is one made by organizations in financial trouble, and the Big Ten clearly isn’t broke. Why would you give up 10% of all future distributions for money you don’t even need right now? Under the current equal distribution model, each school receives a 5.5% stake, meaning CalPERS’ share would be roughly double what any school gets. It’s also likely CalPERS would expect some influence over the new for-profit entity being formed. That means a non-member organization could have a voice in the conference’s future decision-making. 4. It's only preseason, of course. But Cade has posted TS% of 81.2% against Memphis and 74.2% against Milwaukee. He only has 14 regular season games with a TS% >70%. His career TS% is 53.9% which is awful. Last year it was 56.5%. You would like to see it at or above 60%. So he has some work to do.
  5. I’m a fan of Ausar handling the ball at times, so this isn’t a complaint. However, giving him more on-ball reps could slow his progress as a shooter. Players who operate on the ball rarely get corner 3PT looks—the shortest shots on the floor. Their attempts mostly come from above the break, where the distance is greatest. You also lose those wide-open catch-and-shoot chances when you’re creating the play, and that’s the bread and butter for boosting a 3PT percentage. As I said, I still like the idea, but it works against efforts to improve his shooting. On the flip side, Cade shot 35.9% while almost always running the offense last year. If he spends more time off the ball this season, his 3PT% could rise by a point or two and make things open up even more for him.
  6. You can see why he was pushing for a player option instead of a team. He knows he is getting cut next summer and nobody is going to come close to the $24 million he is making this year. He might not even be an MLE type player.
  7. No Cade to start the 2nd. His 6 assist might be the most impressive stat since Ausar was on the ball quite a bit when Cade was on the floor. Cade played 19 minutes and shot 8-14 from the floor.
  8. Loving aggressive Cade. 17 points with 9 minutes left in the second quarter.
  9. Thompson looks like he had worked in his handle a bit. It appears to be much more compact and not as much upright as he was last year. Free throw shooting is still an issue for him. Cade had 11 points in the first.
  10. Watching this late. Looks like they start the game with Ausar on the ball and Cade off. Cade had 9 points in the first 4 1/2 minutes.
  11. Accurate
  12. I will try to pull the Pistons info out. They have Detroit 5th in the east behind Cleveland, New York, Orlando, and Atlanta. 80% picked OKC to win the Finals. Ausar is T2nd for having a breakout season with Victor and Miller. Amen is #1 Best perimeter defender in the league? Ausar is 6th with 2% of the vote Most versatile defender. Ausar is in the "Also receiving votes" section. Best coach at managing/motivating players, and which coach has the best defensive schemes? JB is in the also receiving vote section for both Which team is the most fun to watch? Pistons in the receiving vote section Which team has the most promising young core? Pistons T3rd. The defending champs are #1 and double the votes of #2 which is crazy. Most athletic player. They only list 2 and Ausar is in the receiving votes section Fastest with the ball. Ivey received votes Best at moving without the ball? Steph got 90% of the votes. Robinson received votes. Most versatile player? Cade received votes
  13. Pretty standard for a coach 5 games into his tenure.
  14. That wasn't on my bingo card Big Ten Considering Investment From California Pension Fund
  15. Currently, you have a 30-day window after the coach leaves or is fired.
  16. So the only transfer portal of the season will take place during the semi-finals and finals. Actually, this year's NC game is on the 19th. You could see guys transfer out before the championship game.
  17. Not a good look from Chris Jones.
