  1. You're not wrong, but you are only addressing the fatigue factor and ignoring the lack of scoring. You probably made the scoring problem even worse for two reason. One, adding a non-scorer isn't what a team desperate for scoring needs. And two, taking the ball out of Cades hands for a non-scorer hurts the other guys on the floor. When Cade has the ball, all 5 defenders are watching him, two are probably defending him. Give someone who isn't a threat to score and one guy is watching him, one guy is guarding him. The defense on the other players is much tighter, and it makes it more difficult for them to score This is why Ausar developing as a scoring threat is important. If he can constantly put pressure on the rim, more defenders have to pay attention. Maybe they send a double to get the ball out of his hands. Worst case, he gets in the lane on a single defender and defenses have to start rotating. He is a pretty good passer and when defenses rotate, guys on offense are open. Scoring for the other guys becomes easier because he can score and put pressure on the rim. Ivey can also possibly fill this role, but I think Ausar has higher upside. I'm not opposed to taking the ball out of Cade's hands now and then. I just don't want to do it for some journeyman backup level ball handler.
  2. Getting Cade help should be the #1 goal, and so far it hasn't happened. I constantly posted in threads last year about how Detroit lacks 20 point scorers. 125 times last year, a Piston scored 20+ in a game. 57 were Cade and the next highest was Beasley at 25. In third was Harris with 11 games and the fourth place? Ivey with 10 in 30 games played. That is pathetic. Tatum is Boston's best player. Jaylen Brown had 41 games where he scored 20+. Bostons #2 had 5 less 20 point games than Detroit's 2nd, 3rd, and 4th combined. Payton Pritchard had 24 games where he scored 20+. Porzingis had 16 games where he scored 20+. 163 games for Cleveland. Mitchell is their best player. Garland had 39 games of 20+. 34 games for Mobley. Allen, who is not known as a scorer, had 14 games. 181 games for the Knicks. Well, you get it. The only guy who helped Cade with the scoring is currently not on the roster. Now, Ivey being back, he should replace that lost production. But who steps up after him? Harris with another 11 games? Ivey was #4 last year, and he missed 2/3 of the season. They are at a point now where we need to start talking about deep playoff runs. You can't do that if Cade has to burn himself out in the regular season just to get them into the playoffs. People talk about how the Knicks series is different if Stew plays, and I agree. But nobody talks about how different it could be if Cade is just a little fresher in that series. Three of the four losses were by a combined 6 points. The smallest of things can change that series, and maybe Cade having a little more left in his legs could have been one of those small things to make a difference.
  3. Not really investing related. But since most of the datacenter talk is here. Los Alamos and University of Michigan want to build a national security ‘data center’ in Ypsilanti. Residents and local officials see few benefits
  4. Oh, they do, and quite a few still think he will be a Piston.
  5. That should about do it for Luke Fickel.
  6. Point of emphasis and rule changes for the year. The straight-line pathway one is concerning. Kinda makes me think an offensive player can body a defender, but not the other way. https://official.nba.com/2025-26-points-of-emphasis/
  7. Penn State just lost 22-21 to Northwestern in Happy Valley.
  8. Is Bill gearing up for a presidential run?
  9. Beating the #3 team on the road is a huge win for Indiana.
  10. The Michigan fan in me would have preferred Oklahoma not lose to an unranked team.
  11. Someone in East Lansing needs to get Johnathan Smith Brenda Tracy's number.
  12. WTF MSU
  13. I can't recommend the John Candy doc enough.
  14. If we are selling state assets, can we start with Rutgers?
  15. I think a lot depends on if your wealthy alumni like basketball or not. AJ Dybantsa just received $4 million to play at BYU.
  16. Media rights would be a state asset and those are sold. I don't see much difference here. The separate entity will be created for one reason only. To separate football from all the other money losing programs. CalPERS doesn't want to deal with field hockey, bowling, gymnastics, etc. Maybe men's basketball gets tossed into the new entity, I don't know.
  17. I love when he does these.
  18. The schools deciding this are not hurting for cash. If a few schools do need a quick infusion of cash, get a loan with a set payment. Any deal where you have to pay a percentage of future revenue/profits is always a bad deal. Especially since the percentage will not be determined by the schools losing money. It will be determined at the conference level, and the conference is swimming in money. It is going to be funny watching these great institutions of higher learning getting absolutely fleeced by the finance bros.
  19. Not sure I have heard of that company. I just found it interesting they are listing AI as the reason for the layoffs. Major Grand Rapids company laying off 400 people due to AI, 200 in West Michigan
  20. More details are emerging about the possibility of CalPERS becoming an investor, and they aren’t encouraging. The proposed plan is a one-time $2.4 billion cash infusion for a 20-year deal, giving CalPERS a 10% stake in all future payouts. That kind of agreement is one made by organizations in financial trouble, and the Big Ten clearly isn’t broke. Why would you give up 10% of all future distributions for money you don’t even need right now? Under the current equal distribution model, each school receives a 5.5% stake, meaning CalPERS’ share would be roughly double what any school gets. It’s also likely CalPERS would expect some influence over the new for-profit entity being formed. That means a non-member organization could have a voice in the conference’s future decision-making. Big Ten nearing decision on $2.4 billion deal with California pension investment fund in landmark move within college athletics
  21. It's only preseason, of course. But Cade has posted TS% of 81.2% against Memphis and 74.2% against Milwaukee. He only has 14 regular season games with a TS% >70%. His career TS% is 53.9% which is awful. Last year it was 56.5%. You would like to see it at or above 60%. So he has some work to do.
