  1. Yep, Phillips. Thanks. I used to eat at Inky's quite a bit. Not bad. Ate at Rudy's quite often too. But the best was Ideal Hot dog Chili Mac. I have to go up there at least once a summer and get one of those, and take one home as well.
  2. Toledo was a parking lot many summers. Products going to the automakers in Detroit coming from the East under Lake Erie was using 280 because it was the shortest route - depending on the day and time. I finally started taking 20 to 75 thru downtown and get off close to Bennett. Can't remember the road. I watched 18 wheelers intentionally run into each other. Others liked to sit back a quarter of a mile and block both lanes so nobody could get by. They would run you off the road. Some cheated (not trucks, but cars) and tried to get on at Summit, just off the bridge going North, but the South ramp. A guy ran into me there once - didn't stop, neither did I and I wasn't going to - hence my shit car. I got stuck one night in the very first spot when the bridge went up and got to watch a big boat go by. That was kind of cool. Then it wouldn't go down. That wasn't so cool.
  3. This conversation reminds me of my commute back in the 90s coming from the South to Bennett Rd. in Toledo and across the I-280 drawbridge for 10 years - 8 of which was one lane in the summer (or close). Backed up for miles at peak times - and then when you thought it couldn't be worse - the bridge wouldn't go down. It was like Mad Max.
  4. This was fun to watch. 100 S&P futures points gone in seconds;

  6. And they will, while creating new alliances with other things as well. It will be like a giant middle finger to the US. This is self induced stupidity by the EU leadership and the West. Example: “Lehman Event” Looms For Europe As Energy Companies Face $1.5 Trillion in Margin Calls This is what happens when we act like a bunch of dumb fucks.
  7. To expand on the above... To make a long story short some of us here in Cornhole (rural Ohio - not a buckeye fan) figured out that our internet provider which used to be Time Warner, now Spectrum, has upgraded their service. The same guy who went "mesh" above, got a sales pitch email from Spectrum but mentioned his 300Mps service...What? We didn't know that. Of course they didn't tell us either, and us old guys watch that stuff. Or maybe not... We also find out there is also a deal where you can get some help if you qualify. I will add the link below. This was sent to me from Spectrum, and has a .gov extension, so I'm confident it is legit. The Affordable Connectivity Program This can save you $30 a month if you qualify. Technology is like getting on a train going 300 miles an hour, and if you get off, you get left behind. By design. But I love the new speed. Digital horsepower. Too bad you can't smell it. *** Next time at the home store get a little tube of plumbers putty.
  8. It's bigger than CS and IT. It is management in general. There are too many dickwads in positions they shouldn't be in, and more dickwads hiring people who have no business in the positions they put them in. A self licking ice cream cone of ineptness, stupidity, and arrogance. I have had more e-mails from headhunters looking for engineers/CAD people in the last year than I had over the last 10. They can't find people, I get that. I applied for a couple, but I never get past the first phone interview. Why? Cause I'm too fucking old. I am at the age I can collect SS and make all the money I want - I would go back and make a killing - but it would have to be the right deal. They don't care about hiring "good, competent" people, as they don't want to pay the price for a guy me, they know I'm too old to be turned into a ass-kissing yes man, and I might actually question something. I don't feel sorry for them. Eat your own stupidity.
  9. "Vladdie" isn't worried. They are doing just fine. EU and the West are going to be fucked. Self inflicted and stupid. But that's what we do. **** Note to 5/3 bank - and as we all know - I hate banks - someone, or a series of someones, are going to have a bad day. I paid off an installment loan last month. I even got a check for the over payment of a small amount. I also got a letter telling me it has been paid off. Today, they took money out of my account. The installment loan is through the very bank that doesn't understand it is paid off - the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. So I call customer service. I type in my information and it locks me out of my account because I have entered my PIN too many times (once). After another attempt and finally getting a "real" person - they ask me what my problem is, which is now two - my extra payment problem, and now my log on problem. Did I mention I can't understand a fucking word they say? They tell me to log into my account - I explain I can't. They tell me I need to call customer service. Who, exactly, am I talking to now????? No, hook me up with someone that can help. I can fix the login problem, which they did, then told me to call customer service to get the payment fixed. Why don't you just transfer me? Ok, hold on. Then they went poof. Didn't hang up, just went poof. So I wait on the line for someone else. Will they come???? Nope, after waiting another 20 minutes. All of a sudden it hangs up and I just spent an hour or so of my life I will never get back thanks to the "outstanding" customer service of 5/3 bank. Fucking swine banks. I went through the same shit the other day with Spectrum trying to get a new modem - not resolved either - that was on the docket for today. But not now. Customer service is a mirage.
  10. Half a million bbs of crude is a knat on an elephants ass in the big picture (the US of A needs about 18 million a day), and I don't know where the "less than expected" came from. That's not what investors should get out of this meeting. Decent article here by Reuters; OPEC+ agrees small oil production cut
  11. Markets closed today due to Labor Day, but the world keeps on ticking. California Calls Grid Emergency With Power Use at Five-Year High - Bloomberg Oil producer group OPEC+ surprises energy markets with a small production cut - CNBC Brent crude was up 3% on the news Russia will not resume gas supplies to Europe until sanctions lifted, says Moscow - Guardian The futures will be interesting tonight and into the opening tomorrow.
  12. Now that I have a little more time. I didn't follow this much because I don't really care. I did kinda watch the stock price go goofy with all the BS that went along with that. The link above shows how much the price of the stock went up and down (along with selling). By a bunch. Some got rich, some got smoked, most smoked. It was and still is insanity. But I digress... In this case, the dude had problems. One has to wonder if he was also worried about getting clipped for insider trading. This is a perfect setup for that. "Blue Horseshoe loves Anacot Steel,"
  13. I have a few. First, just so it's on the docket, back somewhere @Biff Mayhem tuned me on to the mesh wireless (think Donald Sutherland playing officer in The Dirty Dozen - never heard of it). To the Paul Harvey rest of the story, I have passed that along when I can. A good buddy had the same issues. Fixed. He's happier than a pig in the mud. As am I. The next two are probably well known, but I'll go anyway. Because, like above, you never know. In today's world we deal with many cables, cords, whatever. Fold and stuff them into the cardboard sleeve that comes with the toilet paper and paper towels. You can take a marker and label them. Vinegar is on the Mt. Rushmore of home necessities, especially cleaning.
  14. Link to FINVIZ The link above will show what that article is saying. Meme junkie stock played by the retail/robinhood players and his recent millions of stock sales. I suspect he was in the same boat in some sort of way as this guy some may remember; The Incredible Rise and Final Hours of Fracking King Aubrey McClendon He chose a bridge to drive into.
  15. To break a rule; since Russia has been blamed for just about everything over the last 6 years, it's hard to distinguish between cluelessness and jokes.
  16. The oil leak is in a turbine, you know, the machine that pumps the gas. You might consider a new information bubble to live in.

  18. I don't doubt you could, and I think you are lucky on the customer part. Maybe because it's a restaurant. I frequent two grocery stores and one gas station. I like to talk to the ladies to see what our public is like. All of them tell me it has not been good. People are pissed off, nasty, and mean. They want to bitch at someone and these poor girls get it. The lady at Kroger I talk to has been there over 25 years. She told me she has been yelled at more in the last two years than her entire time there. Some of that was due to COVID. I don't doubt it. People are so stupid. It's not those girls fault prices are what they are, or things are missing from the shelves, but that's who they take it out on. I don't expect it to get better any time soon. ‘I expect a tsunami of shutoffs’: 20M American households now can't afford to pay their utility bills on time — here are 3 simple ways to drop your monthly costs It has been hot and I have had the air on a lot, but my last two months bills have been the highest ever, and almost twice what they normally would for this time of year. And I just love the electric bills anyway. About half of it is for kilowatts used, and the rest is fees, misc. charges, and bullshit. Customer charge $10.00. Thanks pricks. *** Crude oil was up 4 percent the other day, but got jack-hammered yesterday. But that little 4 percent jump caused the pump price to go up .20. Thanks again.
  19. Bravo! Good for you D. *** My grocery and utility bills have went nuts. Winter coming, watch the price of natty - already a good trade this year. BEATS HEAD INTO WALL I was watching it - oh, hey, lookie here - of course didn't buy any. dumbass, but I digress... *** 1lb of bacon that used to be 6 bucks is now 12. Eggs from a buck to 3. Anyone watching have read the articles about the record number of people who can't pay their utilities, along with the increasing number of people living paycheck to paycheck, an so on; IOW, not good economic indicators. Europe is a hot mess. Reports of aluminum plants shutting down due to energy costs which will eventually lead to shortages and supply chain issues. Once again the giant spider web of global logistics and just in time delivery take a bite our of our ass. That chain feeds the plants we do have here. Read jobs to be lost - here. People would never believe how much time is devoted to "process map" every little thing that happens in manufacturing and how it happens. Mass produced products via an assembly line need something to happen every "X" amount of time - and it needs to get there at the right time - all the time. It works great as drawn up, but when it doesn't, it becomes a mess. If you don't believe me I would look to the work of W. Edwards Deming. Aluminum is only one example. Can the gyro be re-calibrated - and if it can - how long will it take and what was the damage? We are about to find out.
  20. Ok, let's wade into the pot hacks. Michigan is a rec state. I live in Cornhole, Ohio, we are med. So I'm guessing many here already know this one, but I'm gonna anyway. I was turned on (pun intended) to this last Saturday. It doesn't matter your outlook on the herb, but this is one of the most incredibly clever inventions ever. And I worked for a company that was named after the guy who invented the u-joint. Coincidence???? I'll bet the dude was stoned when he figured it out.
  21. This is for the home improvement home hackers. Simple scrap can make your next project easier. Below is a small shot of a 4ft piece. 1/2 thick plywood used as a fence, Elmer'ed and screwed to a 1/4 thick both side sanded plywood. All scrap. Leave an inch or so longer than the width of your hand held circular saw of the 1/4 piece. Use that as a fence and cut the excess off. Next time you want to cut something, draw some lines down each side of a sheet of "whatever" with the tape measure, and line up the edge you just cut. Hole in the top to hang on a wall optional, and the hole is too close to the end. I used a knot. And before the design cops rip me a new one because the screws shroud really be going the other way (thin into thick), I knew that, but turned it over and got rid of the end of the screws. I didn't need much - I had Elmer. Some of the best stuff ever.
  22. I have a station that sells that nearby. I bought some there due to time a while back. They were maybe a buck or a little more cheaper than the airport - just for some context. I honestly don't know what took me so long to change. Everything I have starts on the first pull which is soooooo nice since I'm old and my body is broken.
  23. yield curve inversions is a hot topic today. Crude is up almost 4 percent today, and RBOB gasoline about half that. If that continues, the prices at the pump will rise as well. Europe is a fucking bigger mess that it usually is. They have some real pain coming.
