  1. Sure, but they know they can't raise taxes significantly without bigger legislative majorities, so the concept of increased backing of workers rights is a practical strategy to deal with political reality. I give them credit for having their feet on the ground and not letting ideality stand in the way of working practically.
  2. I guess they wanted a shot at home on the runner at 2B in case of a base hit - but it was only the 1st inning.
  3. bingo - Benjamin Wittes
  4. getting through the season without a significant injury to a Dman was an outlier outcome. Just do not want to see Petry back on the ice. If he has that much wisdom to offer make him an offer to retire into a coaching gig.
  5. Hopefully he gets at least to Erie before seasons' end.
  6. I knew the term had a familiar ring about it - the word has been around for a while. There is facebook emag/blogsite named Lawfare originally created in 2010. Run by ex- Pres admin types. https://www.facebook.com/Lawfareblog/
  7. a tale of fly balls. Tigers had two drop deep on the track, Rays had one drop at 315' for HR.
  8. Ooops. Win probability just took a dive.
  9. Got to two outs but gives up the base hit. Tie game
  10. Vest puts himself in a hole with a lead off double to Paredes.
  11. He's going to trust Parker here. EDIT: shudda pinch hit
  12. I don't disagree except that I wouldn't put Seider in that group anymore. They'll want to pair up Edvinsson and Johansson with vets - assuming the later makes the team. Do they still have another year with Wallinder?
  13. We've seen the Tyler Alexander break down before.
  14. Tigers hitters just a few bucks short today.
  15. Lakeland with 13 in the 1st 4 innings. Clark with 2 more walks and McGonigal 3/4.
  16. It was weird. All the refinery services companies had them, but guys went from one firm to another all the time, in fact half the guys I worked with had worked for at least two of the major firms. There seemed to be enough ways to rewrite job descriptions that I don't know of anyone actually trying to enforce one - again probably because they were all guilty of raiding one another. The question is why they bothered.
  17. Torkelson has his own little rain cloud following him around.
  18. Manning sort of meh today. 3ER runs in 4 innings 6H 2BB 4K
  19. and you have to move or buy out Petry.
  20. Flaherty can't stop the bleeding. Monroe actually spot on with the commentary. Flaherty working away and the Rays taking him to the opposite field.
  21. My read would be that the odds of Ghost coming back are higher and deal will get done there quickly if it's going to happen. Yzerman seemed to speak very enthusiastically about having the mix of defensive talent.
  22. Damn - I don't think they turn that DP even if Javy makes a better throw, but I thought getting the lead man would be enough to prevent a run scoring on a hit.
  23. This is the kind of action where the Biden administration is making deliberate efforts to force up wages in the US as the most direct was to increase social equity. The old theory was let business make the money, then raise taxes and redistribute. But Biden's people have realized that the tax increases never come, so their approach is try to get more people making higher incomes. Of course the corporate pushback is just as fierce, but the advantage politically is that you can point directly to the beneficiaries of the policies, whereas the beneficiaries of increased social welfare spending are too diffuse to create effective political support.
  24. The only downside in the situation is if he walks but the decision comes late and the Wings miss a chance to spend the cap space waiting on him. But I have to believe that if a deal Yzerman wants to make comes up he's not to pass waiting for Kane to make a decision that is likely to go against the Wings anyway.
