  1. Larkin and Bert set up Zadina beautifully again and he doesn't beat the goalie.
  2. as much as I hate how passive the Wings play on the PP, the Kraken just showed what happens when you are too aggressive - gave the Wings a pretty easy PP goal.
  3. Larkin with the ole' 'pop out of the penalty box and set up the goal' trick.
  4. Wings let the Kraken keep the offense completely out of the the center of the ice. I don't think the Wings executed a single weave, pick or drop pass in the period. Just brainless skating into checks along the boards and giving up the puck on shoot ins.
  5. Zadina gets open, shoots it right into the goalie pads...../..sigh.../
  6. wings look totally putrid. Skating in molasses and making mindless passes that are all turnovers.
  7. wings without a shot through 11min against a bad team... Ned came to play, but apparently no-one else,
  8. It was always my impression from what I saw during that big burst of anime activity - Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Inuyasha, that those artists were all about creating a mood - sort of like film noir in the 30s - though a different mood of course. Mostly the alienation of modern life, which clicked with the millennial audience in both Japan and the US.
  9. can't even imagine doing anime as live action.
  10. One of mine was a big anime fan back in the day when the original series appeared here. Have probably seen pieces of all of them without ever having intentionally sat down to watch one all the way through. Saw a lot more of "Inuyasha" - actually knew what was going on in that one. Never really got much of an overall sense of what was going on in CB - though I guess the existential angst is sort of the point -- and not that I ever got the idea plot is ever a particularly big thing in anime anyway.
  11. Cartoon was calling 83 knuckle-curve and 86 split. Based on that he threw two in the 1st inning and none in the second. But it also called some of his FB sinkers and he said last week he was not going to throw that anymore so .... His 4 seam FB did seem sort of flat early - that's always been a weakness for Mize (IMHO) but he got 2 whiffs and a foul tip K on the 4 seamer in the 2nd so it seemed to be getting livelier.
  12. Del! Glad you made it here.
  13. Everyone was throwing hard today - might have been a bit of a hot gun, but even by comparison, he was throwing as hard or harder than Mize.
  14. Kriedler at 3rd base, gets a bit turned around and can't make a tough play on a foul pop over his head, batter puts the next pitch in the seats.
  15. Daz! Caliente!
  16. Brieske smokes the 1st man he faces - and throwing 96. I thought the scouting report said he didn't have that... EDIT: smokes the first 2 men he faces.... and the third out on a weak ground ball.. nice.
  17. Pirate crew talking about using the same dual pitching machine practice drill concept the Tigers are using. Greene walks.
  18. More life on the 4 seamer for Mize as that inning went on. Got a nice swing under it to end the inning.
  19. Off season training has gotten crazy - Keller is (was!) throwing 97 in his 1st ST game.
  20. what? You mean the convict cap with the yellow stripes wasn't your favorite?
  21. Schoop looks like he's lost a little weight.
  22. Riley Greene singles then goes brain dead on the bases.
  23. correct data, but that isn't the spin I would give it. It's standard Russian operation procedure to try to beat a civilian population into submission when the probability of winning on the battlefield starts to waver. And Putin is more than glad to go that route because we have to remember that he draws his understanding of state morality in a straight line from Genghis Khan. All decisions have complex antecedents, but I would guess this fact figures higher in Putin's decisions right now that whatever he is thinking about the US. It can also be read as sign of relative desperation because the last thing his generals want is to give the West a real world look at his best/most secret capabilities.
  24. he just kicks back and hits the Cruz-control while recharging...
  25. so, there's a question. How does an agent get paid on an opt-out contract? If he gets paid based on an annual cut, and the guy opts out but can't sign as good a replacement deal, that means the agent is out money also I suppose......which would mean he gets shorted if his client makes a bad decision down the road?
