  1. Nice talk, but I'd rather hear that Biden is getting the necessary materiál into Ukraine.
  2. Hey! I turn my back for 20 min and someone let Boston Score? Someone needs to talk to management!
  3. I don't think it would be Skubal. If it were me, I'd try something different. Put Alexander on 6 days rest and have him split start with each of the 5 starters every fifth start. Sort of like an anti bullpen day. It's a way to increase his innings and decrease BP innings in an orderly manner not so dependent on random chance. In the end you want your best pitchers to work the most innings. How you do it matters less than that you do it.
  4. I think Cabrera's sac line drive was 111, but that was not a base hit, so true enough.
  5. Javy.. ....bueno en el beisbol
  6. He may think that, and you *may* get an army to fight on that basis defending their own homes, but it will be an interesting experiment in human motivation to see if you can get one to fight that way in a foreign leadership adventure, especially in a army with little or no unit level leadership. If I had to guess, I fear it the way it will go is that Russian ground units will remain largely ineffective but Russian over the horizon firepower will continue to wreak havoc.
  7. so is there reason to believe Russian forces will perform better/worse in East than in the North? They will be closer to their supply lines. OTOH, many of the units have been beat up and will have had to burn through more supplies to relocate ~1500 miles. They may also have much better air support unless the West have been able to move more effective air high altitude defense systems into Ukraine.
  8. Ace of Spring Training on the mound today.
  9. LOL - that stiffness in the way he holds his glove as he runs in on a ball has to remind one of every bad fielding kid you ever played with on a sand lot. Still, he mostly does mange to catch the ball in end....
  10. Barnhart's hit off Davis would be his first as a RHB since the 2019 season.
  11. Tiger pitching with 'only' 5 K today, but ZERO BB.
  12. LOL- Jack says the one thing you can't do is throw it down the middle, so Soto does exactly that but has enough on it that JD comes up 15ft short.
  13. Victor losing his hat isn't nearly as much fun as Baddoo.
  14. we want MOAR runs!
  15. Miguel actually looks pretty good. He's hitting the ball hard and he's driving off the back leg. Obviously feeling pretty good Hope he can stay healthy.
  16. I think maybe the new guys have been helping.
  17. I agree that the fiscal stimulus the the Dems came in with no doubt helped drive inflation, but my complaint is that the Fed should have been cutting back at the same time so that the stimulus transitioned from monetary to fiscal. There was no reason for the Fed to remain so expansionary once the Fed government shifted into spend mode. It been discussed here before that given the choice, fiscal stimulus is preferable to monetary stimulus on employment and equity grounds anyway.
  18. Barnhardt is a lifetime 700 OPS hitter. He should regress to adequate.
  19. It's not dumb that there is a black out per se, it's dumb that you can't buy your way out of if you want the package of all the games from MLB and your local team. You should be able to buy MLB TV with something like a $3-5 month upcharge and have it include your local team. Everyone could still get paid that way, but MLB and the RSN's are too siloed to work that out. You shouldn't have to pay DirectTV for HSN and 100 channels of other crap just so they can pass that same RSN upcharge to Bally when MLB could do that themselves.
  20. and too many skinny big men.
  21. The record function on DirectTV is really idiosyncratic though - it would be too long to describe all the weird things it does, but bottom line it's too often not what you expect.
  22. m.o.r.e. . p.r.o.j.e.c.t.i.o.n.
  23. Lets the purges begin, what will follow is that Russian society will slide further toward immobility and economic irrelevance.
  24. 94 probably sees as much truck traffic as it does in part because i-80 is toll. Put a toll on 94, you'd probably reduce traffic because cross country routes would lose any motivation to ever come north. That would not be a bad thing in most people's view I think! The absence of toll roads in MI has a long (and probably now obsolete) history. Of course the auto-plants didn't want them, and that is probably the biggest reason, but back in the 40's 50's and 60's, when the road nets were being planned but railroads were still a thing, there was an arg that since MI was a peninsula, we had poorer cross state rail connections than other states so it was only 'fair' that we not have toll roads since there were fewer shipping/travel alternatives. That seems a quaint arg today, but I remember it being a pretty stock political talking point when I was young - so that is a little bit of how we got to where we are.
