OSU had zero trouble with the MSU run game. They will probably sell out to stop ours as well. The 'might have been' for this season is how much better the M passing game might be now if Harbaugh hadn't kept it under wraps for 6 weeks. TBF probably still not good enough to go possession to possession against Stroud and that receiving corps. It is what it is, they are pretty special. M just doesn't have the horses in the passing game. The kids catching it today are talented but as a group they the lack the size to go up against stronger defenders.

In terms of being happy with their coaches, Bo was constantly criticized for being the heir of Woody's '3 yards and cloud of dust". He was far more lionized after he was gone than by us M fans at the time. Yes we were happy to have had a guy that turned the program around but always unhappy that he was such a stick in the mud strategically. But M always had that ability to sell a lot of seats and draw TV eyeballs which has given them a pretty nice economic advantage and they been able to use that for facilities and all so they've had a leg up on recruiting for a long time, but coach wise probably Gary Moeller might be the only coach we've ever had in my lifetime where you could say the coach brought much in the way of in game coaching or innovation in the way he brought a modern passing game to UM. Well, Rich Rod innovated but most of them didn't work well!

he would seem to be the fit for the Yankees, who need to care less about defense playing in the Bronx bandbox.

USC/UCLA come into their 'big game' totaling 9 losses. Sic transit gloria Mundi

no - I would still put Correa 1st on their list, even if they know have no chance to land him. Then Story then the rest. Avila loves him some OBP so I'd guess Javy is not that high on his list. But in the end we know the desirability of deal will probably trump the desirability of the player for any of the 5.
-
tea leaf reading wise, I would guess Story is the guy that Avila would most like as 2nd choice.

I know this game is so out of hand it's pointless to look at it very seriously now, but there is no way that 7th TD play should have worked. MSU had 5 guys between the post and the right corner and the OSU receiver was still on the left side of the field and Smith_N ran right past all them uncovered to catch the pass.

It's a fair point, but remember we are talking SS and deterioration of D may be just as bad as deterioration of O. Javy has really extreme fast twitch, he probably has more quickness to give up before his D suffers than any of the other guys. Maybe he does give up more with the bat but maybe he gives it back to you by being able to stay at short so the value proposition evens out. Obviously projecting any 29 yr old baseball player out 5 yrs is no better than trying to divine chicken entrails. All that matters is how Avila is weighing it all.

LOL - Stroud has put up Cade's stats through about the 1st 6 games in one half.
-
yeah - 20-20 hindsight is easy but if Harbaugh leaves McCarthy in his seat and lets Cade throw a little more it would probably have been the margin. If MSU doesn't put up some more of a fight before this one is over, next week might turn into a trap game for OSU though.....

I have illusions about defeating OSU, but Michigan's D does match up better against them. Like Buddha said from the beginning of the season, neither UM or MSU are actually very good teams. With a little scheduling luck you really don't need to do much to get to 8-1 in the B10,

28-0. OSU putting up *2* pts/minute.
-
21-0. As Sir Paul put it. "I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me a win over OSU" Well, close anyway.
-
if that's true it could suck for us because that means the market will probably end up frozen as Correa holds out for something no-one wants to give him.
-
OSU up by 14 after 7 minutes.

Exciting, wasn't half the problem, she was your 5th grade teacher!
-
well maybe. But 20 miles is a long way in a city. Transpose that to Detroit and it puts me in Eastpoint if I lived in Brightmoor. A rough analogy but that's not exactly around the house!

I'd be happy to take any of the three after Correa and Seager if you can do it for 5 yrs and I almost don't care what the AAV would be. I wouldn't blink at even 150 over 5 for Story or Baez. You can afford the AAV when you are winning. I know there is a view that money in the out years is less important because of inflation et al, and that is true to some degree, but the high salaries for guys who aren't producing ( a la Cabrera ) keep bad teams bad longer, and as a fan that is what I want to avoid.
