Faedo isn't the one being traded, and he has options, so you don't need to trade him.
Wentz, being out of options, would not fetch what you say. The Tigers have next to no leverage there.

How is big pharma going to "be right there"? The days of doctors writing prescriptions for opioids to anyone who wants them are long over. Also, the opioid crisis started in the mid 90's, I can assure you that people were using and addicted to drugs long before they could get their fix from a crooked doctor.
Are those days over? I had a small cyst removed a few years ago and turned down an Oxy prescription, just using Asprin instead.

Cody said on his podcast a rival evaluator came to him doing recon on Wentz's makeup, so take that for what it's worth.
The fact that they haven't made the call yet does tell me Wentz and Diaz aren't on the team, but they are trying not to lose them for nothing.

Zach Short getting a lot of love for making the Mets today.

So... were the Tigers being cheap being out on Ohtani, or did the stuff with Ippei (sp?) come up in their background? I think back to Dickerson's Bauer bashing and it being evident he had some non-public information in the holster. Also, about Ohtani's extreme privacy. It reminds me of Tiger Woods back in the day.

It's bold, but it wouldn't surprise me.... this division isn't the best, and this team is a lot better than in years past.
As far as bold predictions go, I think the league / national set (outside of maybe Pitching Ninja) hasn't quite caught onto how good the starting pitching staff is in Detroit, and by the end of the season, that will change. I wouldn't be surprised if they are Top 5-10 material
First time in a while I can remember the Tigers' whole rotation getting drafted in our draft...

I feel like this is being distorted/obfuscated and needs to be read in full:

then there is this twist reported by Petzold
so what can you get back in a trade if the other team knows you have to offer the player? Tigers need to hope there are at least 2 teams interested.
Brady Allen...

Regarding those cuts, that gets the Domestic Reserve List down to 171, four spots for international players coming over or players getting optioned.

right. Had the core surgery in Jan of '14, but came back and wasn't right. Went to the DL to start '15 supposedly with a tricep issue but Verlander later said he went to his own doc and the real issue was his back. Anyway after a poor finish is '15 he rehabbed differently in the off-season and was pretty much back in '16, but he still wasn't trusting his FB until '17 when he started throwing it up again, lowered his arm angle to where it had been in the past (he had raised it to try to recover ost velo during back and core issues) and by mid '17 he had pretty much recovered the full arsenal. There was a lot of talk about the slider improving in Houston, and maybe it did, it I've always believed it was recovery the classic Verlander fastball in/around May-June 17 before the trade that drove everything else.
He replied to my tweet clarify.
Anyways, that was his lat, and I always struggle when people try to say the lat is a back muscle and not as shoulder muscle.
I mean, it is a back muscle, but it connects to the shoulder.

Have you done any projections for Toledo's roster like you did for the Tigers opening day roster?
If you have my sheet bookmarked, yes. The whole system including cuts and 60 day IL spots to get down to 165. I just found out Huira's opt out today and may tweak later.

2012 and 13, you had some combo of Verlander, Scherzer, Porcello, Sanchez, and Fister with Smyly in reserve. 2014, Fister was traded, and Smyly backfilled until Price was acquired. That core was pretty durable. You had as good of a 1-5 as you will find in baseball history. Yes, they didn't make every start so you may remember some back end guys who filled in, but you are talking about your 7th and 8th guys not your 4th and 5th.

Even in the playoff years the number 5 and often number 4 starters were sort band aid and chewing gum guys. Pitchers you just hoped could avoid taxing the BP in the loss while you won a lopsided percentage of Verlander and Scherzer starts. The *apparent* starting depth for this team is pretty extraordinary - maybe we are too close to it to appreciate it. And of course injury could disappear it all in short order, which given recent history is probably what keeps us all from reaching any irrational exuberance.
That is not my recollection of 2012-2014. Not at all.

It's kind of a good thing that there's too many options instead of not enough.

I bet we get some cuts tomorrow. This is kinda new since the minor league roster limit clamps are restrictive this year, but I believe tomorrow is the first day minor league players can be put on the 60-day or full season IL's, which opens up minor league roster space. As of now, the Tigers Domestic Reserve list is at it's 175 limit, and players optioned count against it. Players on NRI's already count against it, so if they are shipped out it doesn't count. Otherwise, a player optioned will have to have a corresponding minor league cut.

I agree. It's a matter of them hiring the right guys to make make those decisions.
And putting those front office execs in position to succeed

I knew you were going to say that!
I mean, I doubt Harris had any say in drafting... say... Carson Rucker.

Al Avila deserves all the credit for picking Melton in the draft. The only thing the pitching development people did was break him down completely and rebuild him from scratch. They would have never been able to do that if Al hadn't picked Melton for them in the first place. Al set them up to succeed. He's a genius. Rehire Al. 😉
I doubt Avila had much say in drafting Melton.

Strip Malls are the worst. The other day we went to a new place to eat, new for us, in Taylor by Southland. Across the was a near empty Strip Mall that once housed a sporting good store, Kids R Us, Coney Island, SHoe places, etc. with a nice Star Theater as an anchor. Now it's near empty. A hockey store (which I think is still thriving due to being in Downriver) and a Burlington Coat Factory, which has degenerated into a very bad place to shop. The rest of it is empty.
Last week, I had a haircut scheduled around lunch time, so went to a local Cuban chain's spot near my barber to pick up lunch. It was in a stripmall. The adjacent store was a crematorium.

Deivi had a 77 OPS+ in his years with the Tigers, which matches Javy.
