  1. Does beg the question who gets the position player innings this year? I'm gonna guess Nicky Maton is one of the options lol
  2. This is fair, guys like Manning have their own motives for talking. But it doesn't mean there isn't a grain (or even many grains) of truth to their comments. In Manning's case, we've seen enough starts of his at the minors and big leagues where he was relying significantly on his fastball to suggest that his statement has merit. And I dont think that he's lying when suggesting that the new PD staff has different ideas than the old guard did.
  3. Way to kill the buzz, Chris lol
  4. If they keep it up, they're going to be regularly joining those three in the 1-5 slots in the order. It's a small sample size, but when you look at the peripherals and are less about getting hung up on baseball card stats from 2022, you start to see why Harris may have known what he was doing bringing them in.
  5. It's Spring Training so you're getting a lot of ABs from guys who won't normally see major league action... but still that's wild.
  6. Wind was definitely blowing out. I don't know that there home run pace is demonstrably better than it was last ST, but in general they seem to have more pep in their step offensively this year vs. last year ST. At least on eye test.
  7. Colt Keith just murdered a baseball there... dang
  8. I'm concerned about that now lol. But I'm not calling for him to go to Toledo when we are only 12 ABs into Spring Training
  9. Exactly. You maybe account some for last year, but it ultimately comes down to how he looks in Spring Training. And we are now 12 ABs in.
  10. So if he ultimately shows improvement this Spring Training, should last season override any improved performance in determining whether he makes the team?
  11. Long, hard out for Torkelson, 106 MPH exit velo
  12. I don't think anyone is suggesting that last season be ignored.
  13. By my count, he's one 1/11 this spring so far (.091 BA). If he managed to go 2/2 today, he would be 3/13, which is a .231 BA. Which illustrates how much things can change with such a small sample size. We should wait to see more of Tork this spring before jumping to conclusions about whether he will struggle once the regular season starts.
  14. It's behind a paywall for me, but even if he was in org, Madris even being in the Top 30 seems... bold
  15. 1/3rd of the Tigers lineup today will be the return for Gregory Soto and Kody Clemens lol
  16. I'm gonna need to see a bigger sample size this Spring before jumping to any conclusions on Tork.
  17. Man, Parker Meadows is on 🔥
  18. Tyler Nevin is gonna be taking Tork's job at this rate lol
  19. As the President would say, "we'll see you at the ribbon cutting" lol
  20. I didn't really have a dog in the fight one way or another during the height of the pandemic because it didn't really change the fact that it was a problem that needed to be dealt with, but 60 Minutes had a really good and compelling report in early 2021 on the origins of the virus. And the fact that the WHO rep they had interviewed in that report, IIRC, was pretty equivocal and shifty in his answers. Not to mention the initial investigation visit to Wuhan was pretty tightly controlled by the CCP. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/covid-19-wuhan-origins-60-minutes-2021-03-28/ That left an impression.... somehow, like most things that happened during COVID, it got really politicized. But the possibility should never have been dismissed out of hand. But again, this is more of a geopolitical question than it is a scientific one.... and it's a little too on-the-nose that the same politicians who yammer on about how COVID was NBD turn around and breathe fire on the origins of the virus. It's not hard to figure out why imo.
  21. Why is the Select Committee on COVID, put together largely by people who think concerns about COVID were overblown, so concerned about the origins of the leak? It's just really bizarre cognitive dissonance.
  22. Gotcha... yeah, I don't think abortion matters much in a local election in Chicago, particularly given the city is in Illinois and not Texas
  23. I was thinking the other fella... lol
  24. I, for one, am shocked that an organ of the Russian government would parrot Russian talking points.
