  1. This is right. I will say that I am encouraged that he's showing this level of productivity while still just coming off TJ. Most of us probably didn't expect to see him in Detroit this quickly at all and that he'd be given more time in Toledo, although injuries have obviously pushed the issue. Gives me some home he can improve from what we have seen.
  2. He also has the 2nd worst BABIP in baseball among qualified batters (behind Abraham Toro for Seattle).... there was a period in April where he was legit bad, but since the LA series or so, it seems like he's not been slumping per se, but just has been unlucky.
  3. That's not to speak of the fact that they have guys like Wentz, Olson and Hill that could all be knocking on the door this time next year. Good problem to have.
  4. Turning the Corner Podcast had an interesting discussion about leadership and how, at least from the outside, it seems like this team kinda lacks of a true leader in the clubhouse. And how many may have had a perception of Baez being that guy but that, despite his qualities as a showman on the field, is a much more complex dude off the field. At this point, it seems like Barnhart fills that role to an extent, as he seems to talk to the media often and relay the mood of the team, but it's an interesting observation... I don't know that it matters much though.
  5. I hate to just restate what a couple of other people have said, but this is the Javier Baez experience.... even as he's not hitting at the level we want him to and despite a couple of lapses throwing the ball, his defense far exceeds what Niko and Willi were giving us. Which is at least helping us in the mean time.
  6. You've described the Texas Rangers circa 1995-2009 fairly well. There are countless examples of roster construction based primarily around hitting and trying to acquire/luck into pitching over the years that haven't turned out well.
  7. The punditocracy is useless, Exhibit 3849492
  8. Maybe the most underrated. He's been in so much good stuff but it seems like it took Chernobyl for him to get any notice
  9. Old enough to remember when Pete Davidson was forced to apologize for a comment like this I suspect there will be little call for that in this case.
  10. Credit to Faedo as well... he's been pretty impressive these last couple of outings. Gives me some hope
  11. Yep, can't survive as a one pitch pitcher in this league
  12. About as stress free a save opportunity as we've seen from Soto for a while now lol... and it was still stressful haha
  13. Al. Jr is fantastic in the booth... they can hire him for commentary anytime now!
  14. Harold almost never hits homers, but every time it does, it's a no doubter lol
  15. Harrrold!!!! Got some black feathers sticking outta my mouth lol
  16. He needs to spread the work around... the 5-0 9th inning last night might have been better utilized for that purpose tho
  17. Can't say I trust Fulmer more than Soto at this juncture, which is saying something
  18. In the end, if Mize ends up not reaching his potential and the others do, I won't care... they'll be in good shape
  19. Yeah, I think that was his last trip onto the Toledo roster for a while... good stuff!
  20. Not tonight Sir!
