I'm sure that is by design - they do not want these hearings to turn to business as usual as it would detract from their goals. To that end, Kevin McCarthy did them a big solid by pulling all of his picks off the panel... this exercise will be far more clear and functional without Jim Jordan up there yelling at the witnesses

More generally, I don't think it's all about convincing hard core Trumpers... it's about people in the middle who aren't very tuned into politics. And the historical record more generally. I dont know that it will be successful in the former, I'm pretty cynical these days, though it probably will in the latter

I'm watching yesterday's game now and just finished his second K (with Meadows on second base).... obviously the swing and miss on the slider out of the zone wasn't great, but in the proceeding couple of pitches he fouled off a couple of pretty hittable fastballs in the zone, including one that was basically center cut. I'm not sure the chase out of the zone is all that much different than the rest of his career, but he's not connecting on a lot of hittable pitches as well. That may be a lot of his problem as well.... it's not just getting pitchers into the zone, it's that he's not doing much damage even when they are in the zone.

So, today is the first day of All Star Voting.... I can't vote for any Tigers because the only deserving folks are in the pitching staff (ie. Skubal, Lange, maybe Vest)

Not sure if this is sarcasm or not, but he also hit a missile for a double last night to drive in a run.... nearly left the yard. He's gonna have his ups and downs, but he's better than the alternatives and it doesn't seem like his confidence is hurt or anything, so no issue with him learning in the bigs

It's a small sample size, but in the grand scheme of things, Daz has actually been better than most of the Tigers at the plate since his call up and has made some pretty dynamic plays defensively (though his play in center today was not ideal).... they should find a way to keep him here.
