  1. Am I wrong in thinking that even when Meadows/Greene are up, there will still be a chance that Willi will be on the 26 man roster and getting OF reps? I get that the high amount of exposure is because of injuries, but some of it too is clearly by choice as well (from Al or AJ or whoever). Particularly when better options defensively exist.
  2. Maybe, but Willi was still getting reps in the outfield while Meadows was on the active roster.
  3. Yep, they rope-a-doped it last night pitching wise, leaving the bullpen largely in tact going into the rest of the series... may not have played out that way if they didn't get rinsed like they did.
  4. There's a tendency to sort of downplay defense in its importance during the course of a game in favor of offense. And it's tempting given how bad they have been offensively, but runs prevented can be valuable, as well as not giving up runs in the outfield. I understand that they are losing that game regardless because of how Gerrit Cole was pitching and how they looked at the plate, but he missed that ball in CF with two outs of a 2-0 game... if he puts that in his back pocket, I feel reasonably confident that game stays more in hand. It just changed the entire trajectory of the game... it changes the momentum, it likely altered how AJ used the pitching staff, etc. All of this is to say that the experiment badly needs to end when Austin Meadows gets back and if / when Riley Greene comes up. Last night may not have been the most winnable, but you risk losing something winnable in the future having him out there
  5. Exactly, has nothing to do with the gender, they just came across generally unknowledgable about the game and of both teams (particularly the Tigers)... Stands in contrast to the YouTube broadcast team a couple of weeks ago, both Carlos Pena and the PBP guy were pretty decent and knew what they were talking about.
  6. The commentary was awful, made Shep and Jack sound like Ernie and Paul Carey by comparison.
  7. As I've often complained on this board, particularly during COVID, the red state I live in has worked overtime to try and take authorities away from County Judges and Mayors and vest more power in the state. So yeah, there's absolutely no problem in ensuring that the state gets their fair share of the blame in terms of outcomes.
  8. We must always back the blue, 100%, no questions asked. /s
  9. The challenge becomes when Meadows returns if / and when Greene is brought up. The experiment should end at that point. It at the very least should continue in Toledo.
  10. So dumb, just put Foley out there FFS
  11. Possibly the only Tiger to have a good game tonight lol
  12. Schoop takes care of it. I can sleep in peace tonight lol
  13. The game was still 2-0 when he ****ed that up. Butterfly effect and all, that is still a thing. You cannot field someone that bad in the outfield, especially in CF, if you expect to win. Just can't
  14. Teams have games like this, fine. But I really don't want the position player pitching crap.
  15. At this point, I'll take it
  16. Probably trying to save the bullpen... but even there, idk.
  17. When I think of the Maumee River Valley, I think aerobic conditioning lol
  18. I'm not going to pretend to know what boxes need to be checked, but if the Twins are carrying Byron Buxton with his limitations, then somehow I feel this team could handle carrying Greene and limiting him as needed until he checks all the boxes.
  19. They have Cameron playing in right tonight... why?
  20. Why is Greene still in Toledo?
  21. Aaron Judge is something else...
  22. Figures, he looks great against the first five, nearly serves one up against Matt freaking Carpenter 🤷‍♂️
  23. I know that this probably isn't it, but I wonder how much perceptions of the White Sox going into this season are a factor. I can't tell you how many times I heard (however logical it was) that the division was a foregone conclusion leading up to the season. They are where they are largely because of injuries, but how much does expectations (and the pressure to meet them) factor in.
