He's arguably been the best hitter in the infield over the past two weeks as well (including Candy, fwiw) and also was the one who put them in position to win on Friday with the leadoff double. Gotta keep him out there. And if he performs, trade him for a lefty reliever with control issues. 🙂

Its worth adding that the team has a guy who profiles as an innings eater in Big Mike Pineda. Who is, by all accounts, about a month away from returning from injury and is significantly more effective than Keuchel at this point in his career. I'll take my chances with the youngsters and AAAA guys in the system and wait for Pineda to get back over going with Keuchel, whose top line and peripheral stats are some of the worst in the league

Carpenter may be org depth, but he probably needs to be in Toledo at this point. Not sure what he needs to prove in AA

Why on earth would this team need Dallas Keuchel? Like, what does he give you that Joey Wentz, Garrett Hill or Reese Olson wouldn't give you if, God forbid, they need to reach further into the system? Or even Drew Hutchison or Chase Anderson for that matter? If this were a position player reclamation project, it would be one thing, but they don't really need a reclamation project pitcher to fix the mess they are in.

Hard to imagine where this team would be without its pitching in general.

Imagine being a starter for this team... putting up lights out numbers or holding the opposition to 2 runs or less doesn't guarantee much lol

It kinda makes sense... there were an insane amount of foul balls in his last start, and the pitches weren't bad.

I thought I had read previously that he's scheduled to travel to Toledo today and be on the roster there starting tmrw.

Even setting aside Carpenter, who probably needs to move up a level, you still have Victor Reyes and Akil Baddoo, on top of Hill/Cameron who are still in the bigs, who will eventually get healthy and need spots to play. Whoever isn't on the 26 man roster in that competition will need playing time. Not to mention the org seems interested in giving Clemens/Davis reps in the outfield as well. Folks like Robson or Dylan Rosa, seems like they may be living on borrowed time, granted injuries have a way of taking care of these personnel things and ensuring guys have spots.

All of these guys, Mize and Manning, could still be 1.5-2.0 WAR guys when it is all said and done... We live in the here and now when we assess these guys. Faedo is a great example... people kinda wrote him off, now he has people reconsidering
