  1. Willi's defense is suspect, but credit where credit is due.... he's at least making contact more than the others.
  2. Sure, it's better. But the bigger raging fire they have at the moment is the fact that they have next to no offense. Montas does not solve that problem. And that's setting aside that it probably takes at least a Mize or Manning to actually acquire Montas.
  3. Miggy gets a middle-middle fastball, maybe slightly down, and pops it straight up. lol
  4. What does Montas do for this team? Another guy to lose 3-2?
  5. Well, time to make James Kapreilian look like Tom Seaver....
  6. I don't know how you do it.... glad I can overlay Dan/Jim on the feed.
  7. Tough inning for Brieske, but that's not what bothers me. Like last night, it's the fact that there's better than 50/50 odds that this pathetic offense won't put up any runs.
  8. Aaand, here we go again
  9. Just to add, at a larger level, the whole rumor was probably just Lynn Henning shooting his mouth off and taking advantage of the fact that the Tigers fanbase has a natural inferiority complex based on a number of factors (lack of success during the Avila years, lack of WS during last successful period, etc.). He has experienced what we haven't.... and we don't feel worthy. Even though, similar to when Mariucci became head coach for the Lions, even though he has had success and way more than his boss, he still can make mistakes and should be evaluated with clear eyes.
  10. I honestly do not feel that the rest of the league feels as you do about AJ's time in Houston, having said that, the implicit idea of the "opt out" line is that the rest of the league would give him a pass for everything that is happening here during his tenure. And that doesn't reflect reality either. I like AJ Hinch and generally am OK with the job he's doing here. And I understand that there have been plenty of decisions made prior to his time here that have negatively impacted this franchise. But you have to compartmentalize the macro and the micro, and in the micro, I don't see what has transpired over these couple of years as being something that would springboard a team toward letting go of a winning manager and hiring AJ Hinch.
  11. Also a big reason I dont see the opt-out line as a reflection of reality. Success or not, managers in other places don't generally get that kind of authority
  12. Agreed. With respect to Haase, the experiment should end sooner or later, even if he gets claimed by someone else and rebounds again. His defense pretty much locks him into a DH going forward if that tail risk comes true
  13. It's kinda hard for me to buy this when Michael Fulmer/Greg Soto are going 4-5 games between appearances
  14. So you're saying a rainout and a visit to a movie theater might be better than firing Scott Coolbaugh and elevating Lloyd McClendon to hitting coach? lol
  15. Is it Hinch or Avila pulling the trigger on these transactions? I assume it's more of a collaboration (ie. before game) working out scenarios given how quickly he states this stuff to the media after games.
  16. I mean, to an extent, this situation isn't very explainable. I know that the fanbase wants Coolbaugh or Avila or (even in some cases) Hinch's head on a pike right now, but even if they aren't as good as the high expectations they set, they still should be somewhere in the 70-75 win range because of the track record of the guys they have. And they aren't even playing to that level. So I get what he's saying.... setting aside Avila, who almost everyone seems to want fired, it's easy to look at Coolbaugh and pin it on him. But at some point, when you have guys with track records, they have to stand on their own merit and they need to get it turned around. And the guys who are struggling to have success bear most of the responsibility for the lack of their success. So, maybe you can make some marginal moves (bringing up Clemens, sending down Tork, etc.), but there isn't a lot of choice but to wait it out with some of these veteran players.
  17. Where's Carl Kasell when you need him? (RIP)
  18. Right. Given how many actual families actually have to deal with this problem in their lives, it's kind of offensive to see unproven claims of dementia be weaponized like this. And MAGA land will never understand that there are ways of criticizing this administration that don't go over the line like this.
  19. He was right all along, dontcha know lol
  20. Mearsheimer must be in shambles
  21. They've won 3 our of 4 so far, although I wouldn't blame anyone for assuming they'll win tomorrow Either way, not meeting expectations at all
  22. If this were true, there would have to be others for which this is the case as well one would think
