  1. Makes sense... Binghamton is right on the border
  2. They have done the trade approach as well... the Brewers trading Reese Olson for Daniel Norris comes to mind. (Still blows my mind that they got anything of value for Norris, let alone an above average pitching prospect)
  3. The Jobe pick was risky, I would have went a different direction as well. I just sort of think this conversation about not building around pitching gets too distilled down to "dont draft pitching in the first round". But depending on how your board looks, maybe you have to in some cases.
  4. Yeah, not a chance....
  5. I guess it depends on what "building around" means... are we talking about just not focusing on pitching in the first couple of rounds or just primarily not drafting much pitching at all?
  6. Could finally be Kody Clemens' chance lol
  7. Maybe the most 2022 MLB thing we've seen yet!
  8. Ladies and Gentleman, The Republican Party
  9. The best case scenario would be to just go to 13 pitchers and keep all three. Hill is the least dynamic offensively, but he makes up for it with his speed and defense. He can be useful as a pinch runner late in games as well, as he did occasionally when the big man would get on base late in games last year
  10. Aren't we also talking about an offense that has badly underperformed it's track record as well?
  11. Some of it is luck, the xFIP numbers for some of their relievers and starters show it. But some of the conversations around here about the pitching staff (and how disastrous the situation they find themselves in) seem misplaced given who this team was trotting out last year and given that guys who were off the board (ie. Faedo, Brieske, Wentz) are now options. They arent trotting out Buck Farmer or Derek Holland or Ian Krol these days... the bullpen, even if the peripherals are less rosy than the ERA shows, is much better than in years past. Cisnero and Funkhouser aren't even here, and tbh, I think I'd take Alex Lange/Will Vest over either one of them at this point. And even with the starting pitching stretched as it is, it seems likely that they are going to have significantly less scheduled bullpen games because they have more viable options, even with injury. The offense is a different story, but I watch a lot of baseball, and the Tigers, pitching wise, are far from being in the worst situation compared to the rest of the league.
  12. That's the other option... although having Peralta in the BP at least gives you a longer option in the event of a disaster (today's game being case in point). Maybe Rony Garcia fills that role instead?
  13. Another XBH for Wenceel
  14. I am fine with starting either one of them against teams in our division.
  15. Tough break for Mize... hope he can come back better
  16. I mean, Manning is coming back next week and they have Brieske/Faedo. Only real net effect is that Faedo or Brieske doesn't go down
  17. Michael Pineda has a broken finger per AJ...
  18. Probably the smart move, tbh
  19. Soto did look more in control today, but he's still scary to me
  20. Buckle up, Kids...
  21. Chafin is so damn good... can't be treating him like a LOOGY like they did last night
