  1. Well, this isn't ideal lol
  2. None of the three have much of a track record, tbh.
  3. I keep saying this, but there's gonna be a price associated with theoretically "letting it go" or "getting back to normal" particularly with the Eastern Europe/old Warsaw Pact states. And seemingly, though cold comfort for Zelensky and the Ukrainians who would like to see more, every day we see new signs of Europe/US going further than anyone ever expected on this problem. That could be seen, for instance, in Germany's President coming out and issuing a public apology for engaging in Nord Stream 2 with the Russians, for instance.... that was unthinkable 45 days ago. I don't see a way that the genie goes back into the bottle on this stuff... it's just a different world now.
  4. An odious man who helped maintain Putin's grip on power.
  5. Yeah, I think SP is where a lot of the disconnect lies. And it's sort of understandable given that Skubal and Mize both outpitched peripherals in '21. Personally, I do question whether one full season of pitching is enough to develop an expectation of what to expect going forward in their case. Once the track record is more established it makes more sense, but not this soon.
  6. I believe they mentioned on the telecast Monday that Tucker Barnhart wasn't a fan so the Tigers may be steering clear of this system at the start. I find it interesting personally
  7. Just out of curiousity, who would you think would fall lower? I'd be tempted to say the Guardians, but the quality starting pitching makes it difficult to get them too far below .500
  8. And the Tigers are still just a roster that seems hard to project. If you get a better result than expected out of the young kids, its not hard to see this team finishing above .500 at all. I suspect the models (and Law) aren't expecting a better outcome for the kids...and that's fine, they are all relying mostly on the data to inform their views. In a way tho, it's fun that the Tigers (along with the Twins and Mariners and a couple of others) are interjecting some unpredictability into these preseason projections. Most of the time they seem cookie cutter and, at the postseason level, like moving deck chairs around the Titanic
  9. Good for Keith Law
  10. Another good question here is how useful Paredes' WAR potential is for the Tigers if he's playing in Toledo all year because there isn't a slot for him in Detroit. As many have suggested, maybe both teams got what they wanted out of the deal and it makes sense within the context of their situations. But that doesn't get clicks lol
  11. @Tigeraholic1 gets an extra day of rest
  12. Yup. He sort of comes across unknowledgeable about the Tigers situation as well. Not even just the question of whether they will or won't be competitive but just the overall makeup of the upper echelon of the minor leagues and how that fits with the big club roster.
  13. This is my view as well. Clemens may be entirely correct about where Paredes will end up in terms of a professional athlete (I'm skeptical, but who knows, the Rays always seem to find a way)... but even setting that aside, the reality is that there really isn't a place for Paredes to land in this lineup. He's not gonna be a 3B with Candy, he's probably not athletic enough to be a full time 2B (assuming Schoop's option isn't exercised next year), he's not gonna get the time as DH, etc. And the Tigers clearly seem to value Kreidler as the next man up, if for nothing else because he can man SS and 2B and play exceptional defense while, hopefully, providing decent offensive production. Additionally, Clemens really doesn't address the fact that Paredes was sort of blocked with this roster, and I suspect that part of the reason he doesn't is due to the fact that he doesn't treat the Tigers competing as a realistic possibility (he alludes to this at least once in the piece) and, perhaps, may be inclined to think they are in a situation where they can find Paredes ABs with the big club. Whether the Tigers can compete this year or not is to be seen, but the infield situation is such where Paredes isn't getting the kind of ABs he needs anytime soon here. So why the hell not trade the guy who is blocked for some value? Seems like everyone wins in that deal.
  14. Miggy needs to save some of these hits for the regular season lol
  15. YES having all kinds of technical issues in this broadcast
  16. Not looking good for Miguel Del Pozo...
  17. Better late than never
  18. I sorta did, although I live in the DFW market and follow the Rangers somewhat by default
  19. Definitely, he has the stuff and experience to be one of the quicker movers from the overall 2021 draft class.
  20. The 12 Hour Kool Aid Sesh continues lol
  21. Their business model relies on getting new blood into their farm system, so the pick may be the bigger chip here.
  22. I think it's more good than bad, although it's a tendency that causes the fan base to get squeamish at times. Earlier in the post-lockout session when Collin McHugh signed comes to mind (ie. all the good relievers are going away, Tigers need to do something)
  23. Madden / Smith break camp with the WhiteCaps
