I was thinking about this yesterday. Keeping Flaherty and Chafin probably would have helped us, even if it meant not having Sweeney.

But there aren't many teams ahead of us. We're tied from being the first team out. I mean, we only need to leapfrog one team, the Twins or Royals. Both of those teams aren't playing very good right now and it's very possible we catch one. But I still say the last wildcard teams shouldn't be a playoff team, it's only for money. Sure, anything can happen, but can it really?

Montero just may be for real. Is it our ML pitching staff making all these guys better, or is it the minor league coaches not bringing out the best in these kids? The difference is remarkable.

When I caught it, I ended up in the hospital for 3 or 4 days. Of course, that was in the 80's. These days, insurance companies would just send you back home.

Hang onto him until he's playing. I do that with great players who may be out a few weeks. Dummies shy away from them but that's what the bench is for, IMO.

Well done. Yeah, it looks like you're ready for the season to start. We had our FF draft and I'm sad to say I didn't get nearly as many Lions as last year. It appears the word got out that they're kinda good...lol. Last year, I had Goff, Jaymo, Monty, Gibbs, St. Brown and LaPorta. Not so lucky this season, I only got Goff, Monty, Jaymo, Bates and the Lions defense. I see Jaymo as being a fantasy beast this season and the Lions D as being a top 5 defense. Seriously...

Pittsburgh isn't going anywhere anyway. Joey might be a good National League pitcher, ya never know.

Yeah, I get that but I'm not a fan of playing the infield in, usually. This time, it was called for. But Hinch usually plays it in early in a game, which I don't like.

A DP grounder with the infield playing in leads to a 3rd run. I guess we're lucky only to give up 2 extra runs...

I don't like that. Maybe it because Faedo is out? But Holton is our best BP arm. To burn him early in the game could come back and bite us on the backside. But, OTOH, Hinch and Fetter do have our entire staff pitching so very well, so what do I know....😅

Agreed. Having meaningful games in September hasn't happened in a long time. Gotta catch Minnesota and they're struggling right now.
