  1. If that's the only way to change the lineup, I agree. No manager should ever be so stubborn to not making the necessary changes to get the most out of a lineup. The problem is, the Tigers will score 6 or 7 runs once a week or so and Hinch thinks he's justified. But he's not, just very stubborn. And then I hear people say it doesn't matter if we win or not, we're just evaluating young players. But it's hard to evaluate players unless you put them in the best position to succeed.
  2. I don't think Ibanez has played 1st this year. Not saying he can't, just I don't think he has. Urshela has...I think. But a correction needs to be made, Tork is good for only one thing, hitting home runs. And that dog don't hunt.
  3. Nobody has ever said that. What we're saying is if a player is on a hot streak, the manager should open his eyes and hit him in front of the better hitter. Score runs. But don't be afraid and say maybe he'll cool off tomorrow...next week or in a few weeks. Adjust your batting order to maximize run production. Somebody should write a book and maybe Hinch will follow it. 😆
  4. What does Tork have to do to get benched? Attack a teammate? Slash Hinch's tires? Seriously...Torkelbust should be sent to Erie...do not pass Toledo...do not collect $200 million. Just....go away. Addition by subtraction.
  5. My point is use him in front of our best hitters while he's hot. It doesn't mean that's the only player who can hit leadoff, if Meadows starts hitting and Perez goes cold, switch them. Make Hinch do some work. Change the lineup as the season progresses.
  6. Lmao...look at the results. He is quite horrible and the one and only reason he's on the team is because of his draft status. Potential? I just don't see it. He's good for 1 thing, hitting home runs. And he's still at....zero.
  7. So you shuffle the lineup when he comes back to earth. In the meantime, use him getting on base to bat in front of Greene. Pretty simple unless you have a stubborn manager who refuses to look at results instead of "what may happen."
  8. He hit .230 with 170 strikeouts while hitting those 31 home runs? Those aren't inspiring stats.
  9. I agree, it's much easier to ignore than some horrible jingle.
  10. In the leadoff spot? If so, that does seem high.
  11. If Mize was doing as poorly as Tork, he would have a 6.9 ERA and walking every other hitter. He's fine, no reason to distract from the main issue...Tork is a major bust...😆
  12. Cool. How do you like it? I get a lot of this every half inning;
  13. I think most of us agree that Greene is pretty good at the game of baseball.
  14. Just when you think you can get out, they drag you back in. 😆
  15. Some people say it takes a year to come back from TJ surgery but several more months to be all the way back. I don't know if Mize had TJ surgery or not but he's doing much better at his job than Tork, who wasn't injured, is at his job.
  16. It feels like 5-1 may as well be 100-1. Time for yardwork...
  17. I don't know. If he's not hitting home runs, he's useless. He's not out there for his defense or base running. He has one job, hit Tork bombs. If he doesn't hit, replace him. I don't care where he was drafted.
  18. How are you watching Bally, on a PC? The FF doesn't work very well on my Roku...it jumps all the way to live when trying to FF thru commercials. I watch on my PC now and it works pretty good.
  19. You won't catch me arguing with you. While Perez is hitting/getting on base, lead him off. If he cools down or teams get a book on him, move him down or sit him. But the Tigers aren't scoring runs and we're wasting hits from our best hitter. I think Hinch is just being stubborn, getting Riley an extra 3 at bats a week isn't going to help us score runs.
  20. But the best Tork can do is hit .220 to .230. With a low OBP. He's one-dimensional. HR or bust. But it appears pitchers have the book on him, he chases too many bad pitches and takes too many hittable pitches. He's just not very good.
  21. Yeah, it was always a weakness under DD. He spent and tried to build a decent BP but it never seemed to work out. Bullpen usage is one of the hardest things to do in today's game. I remember fans getting all over Leyland for his use of arms. Like, what was he supposed to do?
  22. I never said he was good. I used to really dislike seeing him come into the game. Also, I was pleased when we released him. I saw him this year and his ERA, at the time, was low. I was astonished.
  23. What I'm hearing you say is...hey, the Tigers scored a run. Everything is fine.
  24. Even Vierling would be a better choice leading off. My idea is to have Greene hit with runners on base so the Tigers could possibly score more runs. The best hitter on the team should be hitting 3rd or 4th, not leading off.
  25. I already did. Perez was on base last night. Canha was on base. Hit Perez 1st, Canha stays 2nd and Greene hits 3rd. Using your best hitter leadoff with 7 black holes in front of him means he'll never bat with RISP. But yeah, you're right, why bother changing anything? Our offense is fine. Yeah, sure...
