  1. So the Guardindians are already down Boyd and Eli Morgan. The strength of their team is starting to dwindle.
  2. IMO, they should have to pay interest on the contract like you would for a credit card purchase. Also they should still be on the hook for all deferred money in the event that they trade him to another team.
  3. Too good not to share
  4. Point is- it’s not hard to find a bat that can significantly outperform Carpenter vs LHPs. Even with JHMs struggle period he ended up clearing Carps OPS vs LHP by like .500 points
  5. JHM OPSd .900+ vs LHP, so….. no
  6. I’m not a big McKinstry fan, but he does fit in excellently with what Hinch tries to do with platooning, pinch hitting, and defensive subs. So I’m good with it.
  7. Quatraro should’ve won IMO. I thought the Royals were gonna be a distant 4th in the central
  8. Why sign an expensive infielder when Cale Iorg is right there?
  9. Just out of curiosity, what types of numbers would Torkelson need to put up to be satisfactory to justify not spending a load of cash on an upgrade at 1B? I personally want the extreme majority of any money spent on pitching help and depth, as well as legit attempts to lock up current players.
  10. Wouldn’t it be cheaper to just rip up the used mini golf carpeting they call a field and replace it with dirt and grass and have an “outdoor stadium”?
  11. No. That elbow is going to explode
  12. I’d love Soto as a DH and Max Clark to be a part of that outfield
  13. Gerrit Cole opting out apparently.
  14. I think some of you are being a bit dismissive of the rookies as though they aren’t going to take what they’ve learned this year and improve heading into next year. A lot of quick triggers on here just assuming that Jung/Sweeney/Perez/JHM/Dingler are only ever going to provide what they did this year. I’d much rather ride with that group again and instead invest in the pitching staff. if you were expecting a lineup that was 50% rookies every night to be in the top half of the league in offensive numbers, then I assume you also expected a run of 8 straight World Series runs once they collectively all reached their primes. Its exciting that the Tigers had a great year this year, but we have to exercise some patience and some faith in the coaching staff to elevate them more as they grow.
  15. Hypothetically if Keith were to move back to 3B, what’s the move at 2B? Hard platoon with Ibanez and Jung? Is that good enough? The idea of getting more right handed power on the team then pretty much shifts entirely to upgrading Torkelson or getting Adames—which would mean eating the Baez contract. Vierling being a primary outfielder is fine, but there are some things that Perez and JHM bring to the table that I don’t want to see the team lose out on.
  16. Apparently Astros aren’t gonna go beyond 6 years for Bergman. Personally I don’t want him, but I thought he’d for sure sign back with them
  17. Neither did Baez
  18. We need to play 4D chess here with Skubal and lock up Jake Rogers to a 10 year deal this offseason
  19. I’m gonna assume that he 1.) he battled some injuries this year so they didn’t want to push him and 2.) he wasn’t improving on what they set out for him to work on so they weren’t going to reward it. 10 HRA in 69 IPs at Toledo is more of the same of what he struggled with last year.
  20. Same. It’d be a shame for him to not pan out as a front of the rotation starter, but it’d be downright miserable if we never find a successful role for him to contribute in. Plenty of #1 overalls have been less than what Mize has been in his short career.
  21. I can see Mize moving to a bullpen setup role
  22. Why? He’s 34 and has a long injury history at this point.
  23. That and if we sign two SPs and have a glut of them, there’s nothing stopping us from trading an SP at the deadline in a market that will assuredly be desperate for them.
