Real talk- how do you go on a run like this after being so far back in the standings and then walk into 2025 with Javy Baez as the starting SS? Or even as a platoon SS? Its not a coincidence that the entire team has a better offensive approach with him on the DL.

The nice thing about making the playoffs this year would be the complete lack of expectations attached to it. If we make it in and lose in the wildcard round, I think we would all still be very satisfied with the season and hyped for next year. Unlike the 2006-2014 years where playoffs were expected and then mostly a foregone conclusion by August most seasons and then not converting any year into a title actually was a disappointment and hurts.

It amazes me that we’ve had the best record in the majors for the past 6 weeks but we are ranked 16th in power rankings by ESPN and haven’t really moved up more than 2 or 3 spots. I wish I wrote articles for ESPN….must be the easiest job in journalism.

Yeah they could do that….as long as he’s good to go for game 1 of the wildcard round. Hopefully we don’t need him to pitch in that last Sox game

I assume those odds are strictly based on the numbers and have nothing to do with team health, recent performance or upcoming schedules…. The Royals are not anywhere close to safe right now.

Depending on how these three games against Baltimore go, I’d wonder if they’d run Skubal on short rest so he pitches vs the Rays and Sox. Would have to see what the wildcard schedule would be if Skubal would get 4 days rest before the series would start. Despite the rotation schedule and opponents, I’d rather not run Mize out there more than once in the next 9 games. If you can get 2 each from Skubal, Olson and Montero and then a piggyback start from Madden/Hurter and a start from Mize, that’d be ideal with how it’s been going lately.

Ugh. Fine. Can’t believe we are trading away our entire 2023 left side of the infield for a guy with a broken finger though.

1.) Guardians- I hate them with every fiber of my being. The amount of goofy looking white kid pitchers that come through their system that turn out to be elite starters is sickening. Then every one of their great players just has a jerky smug face— Manny, Thome, Hafner, Ramirez, Naylor. Killed me to see Fryman end up there….he was one of my favorites. 2.) Twins- What makes me the most upset about the Twins is that they rarely try to be good from an organizational stand point. Yet somehow they’re always in the playoff hunt. Every Twins era has a replacement level player that absolutely destroys us but is garbage against everyone else. Nick Punto is the poster boy for this. At least the Guardians players that beat up on us were elite players like Thome and Jose Ramirez. 3.) White Sox- They’re just like a drug addict cousin who is always getting into trouble and has no future….yet you’re stuck being guilted into feeling sorry for him at family functions. As a kid, having to get my baseball fix on TV by watching Hawk Harrelson call Sox games on WGN was torturous. 4.) Royals- As irritating as their little run was and as much as guys like Mike Sweeney, Alex Gordon, Salvador Perez and now Bobby Witt Jr destroy us…..I can sympathize with how terrible they typically have been for my entire lifetime outside of about 5 years.
