  1. I brought up Wilbur Wood because you used WAR as part of your argument. Wood's WAR was better than any current pitcher when he was starting close to 50 games a year. Time will tell about the IL. The last year Lolich was a top tier starter was his age 31 season. Time will tell how Skubal shakes out.
  2. For a decade now, back to 2017, River Ryan has pitched as many as 60 innings one time. 2023 he pitched 104 innings. Second highest is 52. To think he pops into the starting rotation is dreaming large. I think back end of bullpen is more realistic
  3. Ok, so again, you take Wilbur Wood over Skubal. His WAR 1971-73 was 30.0. Pitching more innings equals greater WAR. Had Lolich thrown 100mph with greater spin he would never had pitched 300 innings. Eras are apples to oranges. I love Mickey, RIP. And we disagree. And you said any team builder would take Lolich over Skubal? Wow, I think you are wrong there. All GMs who saw both pitch would take Lolich? I'll bet you that's not true.
  4. The numbers between Lolich and Skubal are also apples to oranges. If you ignore that then Wilbur Wood is better than Skoob. Different era where starters pitched the game very differently. Skubal's "stuff" right now looks more like Koufax. From a career in D standpoint I too take Lolich. But to me, these past 2.5 years of Skubal trump what Mickey did when he was at his best.
  5. Still a crap shoot though. Christin Stewart raked up to aaa. Hope has much better speed, but he does K a lot. I realize I'm sounding glass half empty. The JV trade ended up one of the worst ever. Perez was very highly rated. Injuries are a huge reality. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst, are you gonna drop the bomb or not. I miss scoobs already. He is the best lefty talent I have seen in the old Tiger D (sorry Mickey, RIP). I'll grieve a bit then turn the page. To every season turn, turn, turn......
  6. The biggest question for me is how do the Dodgers perpetually maintain a top-5 farm? What are they doing right with scouting and development?
  7. The trade is done. The return seems adequate. And today I am very bummed. I hope Skubal excels but the Dodgers falter. I'll definitely watch every game he pitches
  8. At one point Daz Cameron was also a 55v rated prospect. Still a crap shoot. Time will eventually tell
  9. This is also a win for LAD because now Milwaukee, Philadelphia or the Cubs don't get him
  10. Like Franklin Perez
  11. The haul isn't much better than the JV trade. The results have to be better
  12. Of course, but he was scratched yesterday and he's been linked to teams in trades. Now I don’t see Det trading him
  13. Crazy that they're 2.5 back in WC again
  14. If this is the haul for Skubal, I doubt Mize's return would be much over what a comp pick would be worth
  15. I hate all of the major sports leagues. Greedy. Now we have to sign up for several streaming sites to watch the games. How long before every event is pay per view? But I still hate the Dodgers
  16. I don't hate the Dodgers for doing whatever they can to win within the rules. I hate them because they win, win, win. Just like I hate the Yankees and Red Sox. I hate the Dodgers!
  17. Just for ratings comparison, when JV was traded Franklin Perez was 39 and Daz Cameron was 75 on the mlb top 100 prospects list at the time of the trade. Still a crap shoot. Had hoped Sheehan was part of the deal
  18. I was hoping for a different outfielder, but 2 top 100 with one being #25, and another pitcher, that's probably the most I could expect from a rental.
  19. So mlb top 100 Hope is 25, Ryan is 68 and Smith is coming back from TJ.
  20. Here we go.......
  21. Can you imagine the new height of the Dodgers hate? Is there a betting line on whether mlb has a lock-out next year?
  22. Not in my head!
