  1. Clev and MN combined to score 90 points in the 4th quarter today. Not sure if I've ever seen that before
  2. If Stew, Cade, JD and Harris are all out, they'll need another miracle game from Daniss, Reed and others. That said, extended rest and mending may be a higher benefit for Cade and Stew.
  3. In his prime, Miggy was the best Tigers hitter I've ever seen. I was born 5 years too late to see Cash in 1961 (honorable mention to Colavito same year). And I agree that Magglio's 2007 was incredible. Trammell's 1987 ranks way up there.
  4. He's going to hit the WS game 7, 12th inning, 3-run homer off of Holton.
  5. Cody on Tigers Territory explained the 32 million. Skubal has 5+ years of service time already, so his arb is not compared to other arb pitchers. He can compare his production to all other pitchers. So he could have even asked for more. I was not aware of the 5+ factor.
  6. I think this is mostly about Boras making a statement. The highest arb ever was Price at 19.75. The largest jump from arb year to arb year was just under 10 mil. Yes these were several years ago and need adjustments. Even so, Boras is requesting the arb jump to be 22 mil, more than double the largest jump ever. And his request is 12 mil over any arb ever. To me Boras is making a statement to forget about what any other pitcher has ever made. This is Skubal. And I think Boras' initial FA expectation for Skubal will be similarly historic, something like 10/500. He won't get that, but barring injury or huge drop-off this year, that's what I expect to see next off season. Of course the CBA issue could change everything.
  7. You're in luck, as Detroit terminated their contract with Fan Duel. They are an orphan Tigers cancel their contract with FanDuel Sports | Bless You Boys https://share.google/yzpBaHU4qBo4rJWvh
  8. Yeah, no way he gets 70+ mil/yr with his injuries
  9. Heat at Bulls was rained out, literally
  10. True, but Detroit hasn't been linked to any of them. Of course Harris does play things close to the vest. But he also said having the same players next year doesn't mean it's the same team. So I highly doubt they're in convo for the remaining SP. Bottom line, Greenberg said their priority was to improve SP. They did that with Anderson and non-proven MLB SP. I'm all for looking for a diamond in the rough. Someone else posted here recently that a balance of that, and adding proven (non injured or old) players via trade or FA might be the better approach. Harris did well with Flaherty. Very poorly with Maeda, Cobb, Paddock and Morton. In no way am I in the fire Harris camp. The Tigers have mostly flourished since he came. I've heard many times that going from 60 wins to 80 can happen in a year. Taking that to 90+ is very difficult. I'm a fan of Fetter and the development Harris has brought to the entire system. I would enjoy things more as a fan if once in a while Harris would take a risk on someone like Imai. Maybe he did. I doubt it
  11. Truth in that. I'm a mental health therapist, not a management person. My sarcasm is pointing to the fact that Greenberg stated early on the priority was to add pitching. I assumed that would mean looking to add from proven mlb pitchers. They added a 38 year old in decline, who should help. And brought back Finnegan, good. Flaherty chose to stay. Other than that it's non-proven mlb pitchers who have signed. Of course it doesn't hurt to take fliers on guys and hope staff can help them. It's to a point where going forward, if management states a desire to fill a need, I am going to expect that means filling with non-proven players......or perhaps older players coming off injury. There is value in those additions. But imho there should be more balance of adding proven players as well.
  12. Harris is at it again - Tigers sign non-mlb pitcher Burch Smith to a minor league deal with an invite to training camp. I have a hunch this MO will be repeated 194 times during his gm tenure Tigers Sign Burch Smith To Minor League Deal - MLB Trade Rumors https://share.google/N4VTaGTVzXFeD6sw4
  13. Daniss with 15 assists.
  14. Short McGonigle hustle clip
  15. I live in Minneapolis and have been watching the TWolves. I think they will match up well with Detroit. Looking forward to those games. They remain a sleeper for me in the West, especially since OKC has shown vulnerability
  16. He needs to add strength, but I see a potential ceiling of D Wade. He has an aggressive and confident manner
  17. My favorite rendition. I was 17. Marvin became in instant favorite
  18. With potential regression from Javy, McKinstry, Dingler. Maybe Dingler progresses. A lot of unknowns. I think Harris is making moves to try to win, but mostly to preserve the core future, his guys, and they'll start trickling in this season. Post Skubal there may be a drop off, but Harris is looking long term and sustainability under his system
  19. That's awesome Bert! I had a similar experience (although mine was not in person) when I heard Marvin Gaye's rendition before the 1983 nba all-star game. It rocked my world and remains my favorite rendition, along with Jose's
  20. He had some big hits for the Tigers. His playing time was I inconsistent with the big club. I think he has potential to be a .270/.370/.470 dh, which is decent but replaceable most free agency years. I wish him well. He's going to a good org.
  21. You all passing over grown up Pebbles?
  22. Okamoto to Toronto. I could see Harris being interested in Bichette, but with Torres I'd think not. Especially with Anderson, Lee and Jung still likely getting some time there to see what happens
  23. I believe Harris will make longer offers to position players if that player fills a major need, and performs in step with Harris' philosophy. I don't see him going past 2, maybe 3 years to a pitcher. I did hear that he signed a personal 5-year membership with REI. So there's that.
  24. If you include pitchers, Fidrych was at 12.0 at age 22. Newhouser would also make the list https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/f/fidryma01.shtml
  25. KD can be hilarious https://www.facebook.com/share/r/16dyraKeeb/
