  1. Who knows, we may be looking back on this team six or eight or ten years from now and marvel at how we had Colt Keith, Trey Sweeney, Dillon Dingler, Parker Meadows, Reese Olson, Jackson Jobe, Brenan Hanifee, and Brant Hurter—not to mention Tork, Casey Mize, Riley Greene, Kerry Carpenter, and of course, Tarik Skubal—all on the same team at the same time, before they became perennial All-Stars. Maybe even a locked-in Hall of Famer or three. Sure, a boy can dream, but go ahead, tell me it could never happen. Then tell me why.
  2. They are overachieving their run differential to an insane degree.
  3. So much to take away from this morning's standings in Reference: Second best record in baseball Best pythag WL in baseball Positive record against all AL divisions Tied for best home record and solidly .500 on the road Underwater in extra innings and one-run games means they are even more dominant than we think Equally tough on righties and lefties Holding serve with good teams and beating up on teams they should be Super consistent winning records in the last 10, 20, and 30 games. I know, a lot can happen in the next 126 games. But so far, this is the team I have been waiting for all my life.
  4. My favorite part is you see almost all the other teams with great records or super high expectations and no one else is as bulletproof as OBT are right now. Only the Yankees come close with their three worst positions all ranking 16th. https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/majors/2025.shtml#all_team_output Obviously there’s a good chance this changes by late July, with injuries and slumps very possible or even likely, so a need may present itself in an obvious way. Although if we get solid pieces like Vierling and Jake and (fingers double crossed) Parker back, that might cancel out any slumps or injuries we experience. But yeah, if the deadline were today and the market came calling with an offer to take a major leaguer off their hands, I think I’d have to reply, nah bruh, we’re good.
  5. I’ve long wondered whether Johnny Kane is taking advantage of Michigan’s super-affordable cannabis before going on air.
  6. Because if you made a mistake to him, he’d kill you.
  7. And then he never pitched again. Jarrod Washout.
  8. Yes, and he also “contributed” -0.4 WAR during the last 40 games.
  9. He worse than contributed nothing. With his -0.9 WAR over the last 40 games, he actively cost us the division title. At least we didn’t have to give up any more than a schlub for him, although, being able to pry Aubrey Huff away from the Orioles for one low minors relief pitcher we got in the 4th round of the prior year’s draft probably should have been a steaming hot red flag to Dombrowski.
  10. Every time I see betting odds on the screen of a sports broadcast, or broadcasters doing drop-ins for gambling sponsors, or commercials for gambling during the breaks of sports broadcasts, a little more of my soul leaves my body.
  11. This should give us a sense of where they Tigers are weak and need help and oh my
  12. IOW, it was a Wednesday for the Rockies.
  13. Man, what a wild slide attempt by Sweeney. My back is killing me just from watching it.
  14. Ahh, this takes me back … ”Fister? I hardly know her.”
  15. McKinstry is turning into a pumpkin.
  16. Nice move by Hurter, and good pickup and release of the errant throw by Tork to finish off the runner at second.
  17. The weird thing about Javy is that his Statcast card is as blue as the sea. His hard hit rate has collapsed, but that’s probably he’s focusing on contact which is his highest rate ever. One of the reason for his surge has got to be his BABIP, which was .382 coming into today and, admit it, those two singles were seeing-eye at best. Which is fine, I’ll take the runs. If I had to guess and assess, I’d say his improvement is due to luck as a result of his hard work changing his approach. He may not be able to keep exactly this up, but there’s no reason he shouldn’t be able finish above the 50th percentile of hitters.
  18. It’ll be the same once they put a team in Salt Lake.
  19. Highest WAR on the team coming into today. in fact:
  20. Aaaand right back out of the jackpot. OK, I’ll stop this now.
  21. Aaaand right back in the jackpot …
  22. People will point to this as evidence that America and the police can’t possibly be racist, since these officers were black like the victim. But when it comes to the police, there is no black and no white. There’s only blue, and that makes cops a different breed altogether, one that transcends race.
  23. I’m not sure what Dan would even say to him!
  24. That‘s the other thing I didn’t mention: the wind swirling around the cold cement at Wrigley makes it feel even colder, also like a freezer.
  25. And just like that the hitters pull Jobe’s ass out of the jackpot.
