  1. I don’t think we should just give up on the idea because we’re too smart to believe it can ever happen. We gotta start changing it with a step in the right direction.
  2. Maybe we should consider trading Tork while his value is spiking.
  3. If this keeps us like this, the phrase “sixty forty” is going to take on a whole new meaning.
  4. I’ll keep watching for the time being, because I like hearing the debates on it, but Maher has become this new breed of radicalized centrist, the kind who is cynical about everything; the kind who implies if not actually asserts that neither side is better than the other when thats clearly not the case; and who elevates the spectre of political correctness way, way beyond its scope and level of danger. I’m seeing more of that everywhere, and it’s getting really tiresome.
  5. No! I don’t want one example. One example constitutes an anecdote, and right-wingers have made a cottage industry out of the use of anecdotes to create general hysteria and seize power. I want numbers. I want data. I want to understand the scope of whatever they want us to believe the problem is. I don’t think they can do it, and they should be trapped by their lack of data all day long and twice of Sundays.
  6. Right, although TBF to some degree, if he starts shouting down guests, he won’t get any more guests. But man, this was just such low-hanging fruit.
  7. I know people here hate Maher so maybe I’m a jerk for watching him. I will stipulate as much. He had Megyn Kelly on this past Friday, and she was spouting that ****ing nonsense about grade school children being transitioned to another gender after visits to psychologists, and I was screaming at the TV for Maher to ask her for the data, tell us how many, give us numbers instead of merely spewing some hysterical scenario, because I don’t think there are any numbers, probably because it has practically never happened, and all Maher did was agree that in same cases that does happen. I think my flying shoe may have scratched the screen.
  8. Man, just cutting through them like a hot knife through soft butter so far.
  9. I haven’t see Liz Cheney shill any Democratic Party policies. All I have seen her do is draw the line between a normal candidate and a Hitler-loving fascist who, not for nothing, is not anything like a conservative. She appears to me to be a conservative who is will to put up with Democratic policies instead of allowing the country and its Constitution to collapse into the dustbin of history. Maybe you don’t want her to do so, but I sure do.
  10. I'd be interested in examples of (1) the left demonizing previous Republican Presidents, and (2) political correctness that they have constantly pushed. Not a whole slew of examples—maybe two examples for each. I want to understand what your bar is.
  11. Right. Without the groundwork laid by Bush, and also by Gingrich and daddy and Reagan before him—not to mention Limbaugh throughout—we don’t get Trump at this moment.
  12. I think there’s a good chance it’s less that Trump doesn’t remember what happened during whose administration, and more that he totally remembers and he is merely rewriting history on the fly. Because how many times have we seen red hats claim the same lies that Trump does even after clear debunkings? It getting to the point where we don’t even express mild objections anymore because the world is taking a Trump-will-be-Trump attitude to him.
  13. Anyone here actually listen to this guy’s pod? I haven’t consumed any Joe Rogan content since NewsRadio. Did he debrief his audience on the crazypants stuff, or is he totally on the Train?
  14. To drain the swamp, you have to be of the swamp …
  15. I don’t know whether a team can win with a Tork (at least as currently constructed) at first base year after year. He might end up hitting a couple hundred homers, but if he’s always hanging around 1 WAR or so every season, how can that help spark a team? I’m trying to think of an equivalent—maybe Eric Karros? He had a couple good years but he was mostly an anchor for an otherwise mostly decent team, and he went to the playoffs only three times in his 14-year career. The Dodgers wasted the entire 90s keeping him around. I don’t want that to be Tork’s legacy here. I don’t know of any franchise who could keep a barely average first baseman around and win playoffs series year after year. I think you really do need big production from first base to win.
  16. Tell you what, though—for an October where not only do I no longer have any skin in he game, but the teams that are left are two behemoths which is like rooting for Goliath vs. Goliath—this has been a hell of a playoff season.
  17. Steven Miller will get all their booing names and put them into the death camps as part of the first wave.
  18. Awesome! Now tell me some coincidences between Abe Lincoln and John F Kennedy ...
  19. I never even came close to even implying men think butt squeezing is OK, let alone "asserting" as much. I didn't even use the word "OK" in my post! Well, everyone can see exactly who said what up the page here, so I'm just going to stop here and just leave it up to the people to review and decide, if they care to.
  20. Probably checking her Truth Social feed for likes and retruths.
  21. You didn't say it wasn't, and you didn't say it was. You didn't contemplate its status as sexual assault either way. In any event, this wasn't meant as a way to hammer you, but rather to demonstrate how people view certain acts as entailing different levels of severity, even in subtle ways such as mild language laundering.
  22. This is a commercial for a local congressional race, not for president, but I wanted to share it here because it's so darn good. I can't extract only the video from the Insta page for the candidate, but I hope you click through to watch it: https://www.instagram.com/mrvanforcongress/reel/DA_wgmaSFKn/
  23. I don't know. I don't think everyone can even agree on exactly what constitutes sexual assault, so I can't hazard a guess on numbers. After all, you just said a butt squeeze is not "OK", but you also avoided labeling it sexual assault, which I suggested it might be considered by some people—I would think more by women than by men. I'm just saying I would bet money that whatever the definition is, the percentage is probably much higher than most men believe it is, and probably not much, if any, higher than what women believe it is.
  24. You also think the vast majority of men have never sexual assaulted, so who knows.
