A.J. absolutely should get Manager of the Year for shepherding a team full of rookies expected to do doodlysquat to the promised land. Who are the other serious candidates? Matt Quatraro? The Royals loaded up for a Central Division title in the offseason and he still oversaw an epic collapse that saw the Royals come thisclose to falling out of the playoffs entirely. Where are his managing skills now? Joe Espada? The super-talented Astros were supposed to run away with the West from day one and instead sleepwalked through the whole first quarter of the season. Where were his managing skills then? Aaron Boone? For taking a Yankees team that was expected to win a pennant to the Eastern Division title everyone assumed they would in the first place? What managing magic did he pull off here? Brandon Hyde? The Orioles won 101 games last year. Weren’t they expected to be better than this? Why should he win for managing below expectations? Honestly, I think anyone who doesn’t vote for A.J. should have to explain their vote.

Man, I’m glad I don’t do talk radio for a living. I can’t imagine all the stupid and ignorant things I would end up saying because I would have to fill 20 hours a week. I have enough unforced errors here as it is.
