  1. I had said basically as much for years while we were losing interminably with no end in sight up to the offseason of 21-22, when Little Ilitch showed he would be willing to spend at the right time when we signed Javy and Eduardo. The main reason the spending didn’t work is that Avila didn’t know what the hell he was doing, but that’s not Ilitch’s fault. He trusted his guy, got burned, and to his everlasting credit, ****-canned Avila mere months later when it became clear how terrible the signings turned out. Now that he has signed on Harris, who had new-style GM bona fides coming in and has said all the right things since Day One, I would be genuinely surprised to see Ilitch pull the plug on all future spending and turn us into the Rays at best, and the Pirates at worst. I won’t just assume that’s going to happen at this point. I have some honestly-earned optimism about it.
  2. Jack Flaherty is the truth.
  3. How sad is it that any number of states will not allow felons to vote for president, but every one of them will allow a convicted felon to be on their ballot?
  4. I’m sure they would consider Trump a special case. Ron DeSantis might even give him special dispensation from any law that might prevent him from voting. And even if DeSantis doesn’t, Trump’s going to cast his vote illegally anyway. Because of course he will.
  5. Now all the networks are following Trump’s motorcade away from the courthouse. That just sucks.
  6. Is this actually true? Because he’s a felon in New York and not Florida, and besides, the case will still be on appeal at the time voting is open.
  7. OK, so, one sober thought here … They will appeal this all the way to Trump’s Supreme Court of the United States.
  8. They are also insisting that there are staunch Democrats who claim that this case was on shaky grounds. People are saying …
  9. Newsmax: 51% of America will want to get revenge for this verdict.
  10. Also Newsmax Correspondent: “People are really worried because if they can do it to him, they can do it to anybody …” No no, pal, you got it all backwards. They already can do it to anybody. Now we know they can do it to him, too. The system does work.
  11. Newsmax correspondent: I’m getting texts even from people who don’t support Trump who are freaking out and saying this is the end of our republic, and I’m not trying to sensationalize this here …”
  12. Newsmax claims Juror #5 had a smile or smirk on her face the whole trial, including during when the verdict was read.
  13. Newsmax anchors saying they are “reeling” from the verdict and speculating that the jury was confused and overwhelmed, and she is trying to “wrap her brain” around what happened. The legal expert also said Merhcan “lunged” at the jury and demanded that they believe everything the prosecution says, we should all be scared, and every single business should be fleeing New York. And this is what red hats hear about Trump.
  14. Newsmax is even more unhinged: this entire proceeding is a conspiracy timed precisely to throw a monkey wrench into the election process, and it won’t be long until they come after the rest of us who speak our minds.
  15. Judge Jeanine: “I think Americans are very interested in justice and they realize in their gut that something is very wrong here. We have gone over a cliff in America here … this was a defendant against whom crimes were created, a judge was picked out of the ordinary … a judge who was handpicked for this defendant, who denied him the ability the fight the way he needed to fight, who brought in crimes that we never heard of in New York before, dead misdemeanors that they resurrected into felonies … federal crimes over which no state court has jurisdiction … with all the smoke and mirrors …” … and she just goes on like this. That’s the second time in five minutes I heard “smoke and mirrors”. I’m thinking that will be the Catchphrase of the moment in RWM.
