Magic numbers are typically done for winning division outright, versus for tiebreakers or playoff spots or other things. I'm going to continue to post to that. I hope you don't mind.

I replied above before I saw this: I know it’s not important to any degree. I’m not trying to cure cancer. (Although there are some people in this world I wouldn’t mind sending to Jupiter.) I just like making observations and talking about stuff like this. It’s like detective work, like a puzzle. I find it interesting, and since this is a random randomness thread, it seemed like a fit to me.

I’m not sure Reddit is right on this one. When looking west, north is to your right and south is to your left. Here in our part of the Northern Hemisphere (40° to 45° N), when you look west toward the sunset in December, the sun sets to your left (south), and in June to your right (north). That gets flipped around for the Southern Hemisphere: sun sets to your right in December and to your left in June. That’s what’s happening in the picture.

"Waste of resources" is relative, since there are people getting good and paid for participating in this operation, including local governments that detain immigrants in exchange for large sums of money from the Trump government; private prison corporations that run the facilities to detain them; and the various companies that provide services to facilitate the apprehension and detention, all of which creates a clear incentive to detain as many people as possible. But even setting this aside, red hats don't want due process for immigrants because they can't enjoy witnessing any cruelty during court proceedings the way they can watching video of raids.
