  1. It's not all about flaky voters. A lot of it has to do with the state selectively restricting voter access to the polls. Thus, the qualifying statement leading off the post.
  2. There may actually be a pretty simple way red states with contestable races could avoid an electoral catastrophe in November that might result from this issue: don't pass outright abortion bans, and publicly state that they have no plans to. If they have prior abortion bans that are going back into effect now that Roe is toast, such as Michigan has, put the law on hold. The idea is to turn the heat on the issue way down while heating up whatever issues hurt Democrats. Then, after the Republicans win in November, lower the abortion ban boom. Then go on Fox, OANN and Newsmax and cackle about how they put one over on the stupid voters.
  3. If it's a free, fair and unfettered election, the Democrats will win the House and Senate.
  4. I'm not saying this would be a preferable state of affairs, because it wouldn't, so don't misconstrue this reply in that context. I could see where the black market for abortion pills would be very different from the black market for heroin or fentanyl. I would bet that the providers of such black market pills would, for the most part, not be the same sort of criminal drug dealers who deal in those other drugs, but more likely be committed abortion rights advocates putting themselves at great risk because they are motivated to help women living behind the Fetus Curtain exercise control over their own bodies.
  5. Supreme Court will rule against the law that makes that contract legal by a vote of 6-3.
  6. I mean legally her fault, like in a court of law.
  7. Oh my god, is Trump actually agreeing with me on something I posted last week? Do I need to reverse myself on it?
  8. Getting pregnant will definitely end up being considered the woman's or the girl's fault, all because they failed to simply Just Say No.
  9. Legal weed is definitely not safe, and I too believe it stands a good chance of going away.
  10. I guess we soon will be able to add violent pro-abortion activists to the list of Bunker's bogeymen.
  11. I know it's illegal. But for all the worries about poor and middle-class women having to risk dying on an illegal back-alley abortion table or—and that will happen in some cases—an illegal abortion pill might be one way to mitigate that risk. That is one difference between now and pre-Roe. This is all so horrible to contemplate.
  12. I know it isn't. The pills will go black-market, I presume.
  13. Women don't really need to go out of state to go to a clinic for a surgical abortion procedure, right? Over half of abortions are by medication, some of which can be mail-ordered, so really, it's about getting a hold of the medication, isn't it?
  14. Hell of a way to knock Jan 6 off the front page.
  15. I think even that's a defensible part of the process. But hey, carry on.
  16. Here's one that's been sitting in the can waiting for this decision to happen: They do make an interesting case about the criminalization of pregnancy.
  17. Give people here a chance to grieve a little, would you please? There will be plenty of time for looking forward afterwards.
  18. The same SCOTUS that said yesterday that states don’t have the ability to regulate guns have today given states the power to regulate women’s bodies.
  19. You had me at Federalist Society ...
  20. Perhaps his idea is that he'll simply replace anyone in leadership who quits with loyalists just competent enough to do his exact bidding. And if rank-and-file employees quit by the thousands, he'll either recruit out of C and D county law firms, or simply defund Justice at the field level and make do.
  21. On the other hand, this may energize women otherwise in the middle to move off the sidelines. We'll see ...
  22. Wait until the capital punishment crowd gets a hold of this one ...
  23. Looks like the Court cut off the limb with me hanging out on it! They must like Republicans' chances in the midterms even with a re-energized D voter base—unless they have polling showing that's not going to be the case, or insider knowledge that the fix is in for November.
