    I don't disagree with the basic idea of using performance metrics to determine bonuses or ever service time, necessarily, although WAR is not well-defined enough to use, I don't think. There are at least three different versions of it, including one that's not even called "WAR", and both B-Ref and FG are on record opposing its use.

    Well, sure, MLB negotiators want the lawsuit dropped. Baseball wants nothing to do with enforcing the letter of the law stipulating that revenue sharing money be spent “in an effort to improve its performance on the field," for reasons not the least of which is that by keeping that money out of the player market, it keeps player market costs down for everyone.

    One bright red line is "anything that happens here in the USA". I thinking ATM networks goes down, other payment systems upended, electrical grid goes out, water treatment plants are breached and compromised. Of course there will be the inevitable claim of false flag, but we can't let that paralyze us at the moment of truth.

    As much of a dilemma as there is regarding the no-fly zone, with no good clear option either way, remember that Russia's best interests are being served by our rejecting a no-fly zone, so really, no holy crap surprise there.
